Camp Plus Hatchet

The OKC Camp Plus Hatchet is a compact one-handed axe for the jobs that come up around a campsite: splitting kindling, limbing deadfall, knocking in tent stakes and trimming small branches. The head and handle are one continuous piece of steel, so there is no wooden haft to loosen or a head that can work free. It suits campers, hunters and bushcraft users who want a hatchet sized for a pack or belt.

Features

• One-Piece Steel Construction — The head and the full tang (the steel core running the whole length of the handle) are cut from a single piece, which removes the weak joint found on traditional hafted hatchets.
• Black Coated Finish — A matte black coating covers the head and exposed steel, cutting glare and adding a layer of protection against moisture.
• Bearded Head Profile — The cutting edge extends below the body of the head, giving a longer bit for chopping and a notch where you can choke up for finer carving work.
• Flat Poll — The squared back of the head can be used for light hammering, such as driving tent stakes.
• Textured Handle Scales — Grey-and-black textured slabs on each side of the tang give a sure grip, and three through-bolts hold them in place.

Build and Carry

The blade is marked with the Camp Plus logo and Ontario Knife Company name, and the sheath is embossed with the OKC logo. The sheath has stitching and brass rivets along the edges where the bit sits, which keeps the edge from cutting through the seams over time. Its belt loop sits behind the head, so the hatchet rides on your hip with the handle hanging down and stays out of the way while you walk.
