The RAT Model 1 is a full-size everyday carry folder from Ontario Knife Company (OKC), designed with Randall's Adventure Training. It pairs a 3.6-inch plain-edge drop-point blade with a locking steel liner and a textured black handle, so it handles cutting rope, opening boxes, food prep and camp work with the same knife. It suits anyone who wants a dependable, no-fuss knife clipped to the pocket every day.

Features

• AUS-8 Stainless Steel Blade — AUS-8 is a Japanese stainless steel known for resisting rust and taking a keen edge without much effort on a sharpener.
• Drop-Point Profile — The spine slopes gently down to the tip, giving a strong point and a long belly for slicing.
• Plain Edge — A smooth, unserrated edge gives clean push cuts and is simple to sharpen at home.
• 3.6-Inch Blade, 0.125-Inch Stock — The blade is cut from 1/8-inch steel and opens to about 8.5 inches overall, closing down to roughly 5.0 inches.
• Steel Liner Lock — A spring steel liner inside the handle moves behind the open blade to hold it in place, and you push it aside with your thumb to close.
• Glass-Filled Nylon Handle — The GFN scales, nylon reinforced with glass fiber, are light and tough, with a fine texture that grips well in wet or gloved hands.
• Ambidextrous Thumb Stud — A stud on both sides of the blade lets either hand open the knife one-handed.
• Jimped Spine — Grooves cut into the blade spine near the handle give your thumb a firm purchase for controlled cuts.
• 4-Way Pocket Clip — The black clip mounts at either end on either side, so you can carry tip-up or tip-down, left or right.
• Lanyard Hole — A hole at the butt of the handle takes a cord or fob for easier retrieval from a pocket or pack.

Build and Carry

The handle is a screwed-together build with steel liners running the length of both sides and black Torx hardware throughout, which keeps it rigid and lets you take it apart for cleaning. The blade carries the Ontario Knife Co. logo with Model 1 and AUS-8 markings at the base. The knife is made in Taiwan and ships with the plain-edge blade shown.
