When trusting your life to a firearm, it needs to be easy to use. The Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 380 seeks to replicate the fire controls that are typically found on full-sized pistols and typically missing from pocket pistols. By including a frame-mounted safety and a slide release, the Bodyguard looks to create an experience that is more like shooting a full-sized pistol, making it easy to adapt to its small stature. The pistol must also be accurate. That is where the Bodyguard shines. In addition to the iron sights, the Bodyguard is the first pocket pistol chambered in .380 ACP that features an integral Insight® laser, which provides a sure shot and deadly accuracy. Finally, the pistol should be concealable. I will let the specifications paint a picture of how concealable the Bodyguard is.
The Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 380 features a stainless steel 2.75-inch barrel and an overall length of just 5.25 inches, making it very easily concealed. Not only that, its polymer frame gives it an unloaded weight of only 11.85 ounces – well under a single pound. The stainless steel slide features a Melonite® finish to ensure the highest resistance to rust and corrosion while the overall matte black finish prevents glare. Because this double-action pistol is designed with an internal hammer, it boasts a snag-free profile that provides for quick and easy draws. The iron sights consist of a ramped front sight and a drift adjustable rear sight, but these take the backseat to the integral Insight® laser. As noted, the Bodyguard comes with a single 6-round magazine that provides the pistol with a "6+1" capacity.
