Streamlight ProTac HL-X USB Tactical Flashlight with Rechargeable 18650 Battery
4.45180
A 1000-lumen maximum output, a sturdy and lightweight aluminum body and options for battery power distinguish the Streamlight ProTac HL-X USB Tactical Flashlight. The HL-X comes with one rechargeable 18650 battery, but can also run on two CR123A cells. A tailcap push-button switch is used to cycle through high, medium and low brightness levels, and a strobe setting for disorienting an adversary or signaling for help.

I own many Streamlights and this one is an excellent flashlight. Highly recommended well built unit.

Kinda heavy
Review byShaunta U.
Streamlight as many likely agree really needs to improve their technology. This light is a very solid and reliable unit. The 1000 lm at 27K candela is very bright. Medium 400lm is also very bright. This is probably best for a car/truck/garage light. The high mode is blinding indoors making it not very “tactical?”
Maybe not quite apples to oranges is the comparison of the Streamlight Protac 1L-1AA. This is a ton lighter in weight and incomparably more encouraging to use for edc. Yup it’s only 350lm on high but it’s impressive up to let’s say 30/40 feet conservatively. It’s also half the price. Yes I got 2 1L-1AA’s! Lol
The HL-X is a solid tool no doubt. It feels great in hand. However, it’s not optimal for carrying for most people, unless on a duty belt. Other companies are way ahead of Streamlight unfortunately. FYI you might assume Streamlight is all USA made. The Protac series is not. Just saying.

Super freakin bright
Review byRonna Z.
This pocket flashlight is great for everyday carry. It’s not mini but also not humongous. Extremely bright to 100 yards and beyond that. Battery life has been challenging especially if you’re using daily consistently. I had the rechargeable battery.

In my opinion, this is the best all around rifle light you can buy in this price range. It is durable, bright enough for most applications, and has a great rechargeable battery that fits other Streamlight products. This is a winner, hands down. Get a good mount and your ready to go.

A lot brighter than you think!
Review byTabatha N.
I bought this for my husband's birthday gift. All he told me was that he needed a new flashlight, and you've got hundreds of choices on KeepShooting, and I had no way of knowing what was good. I remembered he used to carry a Streamlight before he retired as an officer. He fell in love with this flashlight. At first he said he wanted one that had more lumens, but I said I saw a video on here that showed it was very bright. Thanks to the guy that did the video of it lighting up the street sign. Once saw how bright it was, then he was happy. I showed him the product video for the 10-tap setting and he loved that! I did buy the one with the rechargeable battery and I'm actually surprised at long it can go between charges. He runs a bar and so he uses it quite a bit at night and in the parking lot. I would highly recommend this others and to any wife that is looking to get a good gift for her husband or boyfriend.

Super bright
Review byLenell M.
Very bright light, but it starts flickering after a long days of use and it gets aggravating. I thought I had a bad flashlight so I exchanged it. But the new one does the same flicker unfortunately. Other than that I am super satisfied with the brightness and the overall feel of the flashlight

Sturdy and bright - a bit larger for hidden carry than other, dimmer models
Review byThomas F.
Just got this. Seems well made. Very bright. No observation of endurance yet. I like it but wish it was as bright in the same form factor as their smaller models. The clip is a little finicky. Popped off of my pocket while sitting a couple of times.

Great light. It was a little large than I thought but not too bad to wear on external vest. This would be a 5 star however the metal clip needs improvement. It is very flimsy.

Optimal solution
Review byRuthie O.
Streamlight makes great products, I have used a few for more than a decade. This one is a good compromise between size and utility: small enough to fit in a pocket, yet powerful enough and with large enough reflector to illuminate things far away. Compared to other Stremlight flashlights...

Downsides: only one type of battery, cannot [effectively] use CR123 or high-capacity Li-Ion; switch button is not as good as on older versions and new "high-end" SL products (less tactile, too much slack).

Upsides: compact, light ("USB" versions with Li-Ion and multi-fuel capacity are great, but huge and heavy), without sacrificing much of the utility (light output and beam pattern).

Great light at a great price!
Review bySigmund B.
One of brightest flashlights I've owned, particularly for it's size, at 1000 lumens/27k candela (on high). Battery life is good as well - with the Streamlight 2100 mah 18650's I get 1hr 30 mins (on high) and 1 hour with 2
two CR123's (again, on high). The lowest setting is 65 lumens, and I average 8 to 9 hrs on that low setting with their supplied SL 18650.

The ability to be able to use both battery types is also quite nice as well. Streamlight calls it "Duel Fuel" iirc.

It's got their proprietary "10 tap programming" which gives you 2 distinct sets of lighting options; Low - Med - High / High Only / and then the factory default is High - Strobe - Low.

It's also rated IPX7. That makes it drop-safe to 1 meter and also water resistant to 1 meter (submerged) for up to 30 mins. So no worries using it in any kind of rain.

I've owned many, many different lights over the years, and from loads of companies. Yet I always seem to come back to Streamlight for their consistent reliability, quality and good prices. (Surefire is also a great company, but as I have to buy some of my own gear, including lights, Surefire is just too expensive for me - even though they're super rugged and high quality)

TL/DR; awesome, reliable, powerful light with excellent battery life and flexible options. Especially considering the price! 10 out of 10, I highly recommend.

Great light... once you have working batteries
Review byPhebe Y.
I received this light back in January. I tested it immediately just to make sure it worked well out of the box and I was impressed how bright it was. I then charged the battery to full and left it until a few hours later when I actually needed to use it... and the battery completely failed. I thought it might be the light itself because there was an indication on the battery saying it was charged but after testing with some old CR123As I had from my previous light it again worked great. I contacted KeepShooting about the battery issue (the same day) and they set up a time to contact Streamlight during business hours. And they never contacted me again. I'm not sure if this is KeepShooting's failure or Streamlight's but it's disappointing nonetheless.

The light works extremely well with CR123A batteries and I guess that's what I'll be using from now on but I'll leave this as a 2 star review because of the battery issue. When part of the product is awesome and part of the product doesn't function at all I think 2 stars is appropriate.

***EDIT*** I've now had this light for almost a year and the light itself still works great with CR123s. The velcro on the holster has now failed and I'll need to replace it with one that has a snap or better velcro. So still very much a mixed review.
