T&E Mechanism for M3 Tripod
The T&E Mechanism is the traversing and elevating unit that completes the U.S. M3 tripod and M2 .50 caliber Browning heavy machine gun system. It mounts to the traversing bar of the M3 tripod and provides precise mechanical control over both lateral traverse and vertical elevation, with measurements taken in mils for accurate, repeatable fire. Using the pre-marked sliding scale on the tripod's traverse bar together with the hash marks on the T&E dial, a gun crew can register pre-set fields of fire and return to specific target areas during night or limited-visibility operations.
