M3 Pintle Hardware
The United Defense M3 Pintle Parts Set is the pin and locking hardware for an M3 pintle. The pintle is the pivoting mount that joins a mounted gun to its tripod or vehicle cradle. When the original pin is worn, lost or missing from a project build, this set replaces it with a complete matched assembly. It suits collectors, restorers and owners keeping a mount in working order.
Features
- Hex-Head Pin — A large hexagonal head at one end takes a standard wrench, so you can hold the pin steady while you tighten the nut.
- Shouldered Head — A stepped collar sits just under the hex head and seats the pin squarely against the mount.
- Smooth Full-Length Shank — The long, plain shank gives the mount a clean bearing surface to pivot on.
- Threaded End — The far end of the pin is threaded to take the retaining nut.
- Castle Nut — A slotted hex nut, called a castle nut because the slots look like battlements, lines up with a cross hole in the pin to take a locking pin.
- Cotter Pin Included — A split cotter pin passes through the nut slot and pin and is bent over, so the nut cannot back off under recoil or vibration.
- Matte Black Finish — Every piece has a uniform non-reflective black finish that matches typical mount hardware.
- Complete Matched Set — The pin, nut and cotter pin arrive together, so you are not sourcing small parts separately.
Fit and Assembly
The pin passes through the pintle and mount, and the castle nut threads onto the end. Once you align a slot in the nut with the cross hole, the cotter pin goes through and its legs are spread to lock everything in place. It is the same positive locking method used on load-bearing mechanical joints wherever a nut must not loosen. Check that your mount is M3 pintle pattern before ordering.

Perfect fit for my M3 tripodGot these to replace the ones I lost moving last year and they went right in on my .50 cal setup. Used them on the M3 tripod at the range last weekend and the gun locked down solid with the bolt castle nut and pin. No slop at all which was nice.
