The Auto-Ordnance Thompson M1 SBR is a semi-automatic version of the M1 Thompson, the simplified wartime pattern of the famous submachine gun, built as a short-barreled rifle. It keeps the slab-sided receiver, walnut furniture and stick magazine of the original, so it handles and looks the part on the range, at a reenactment or in a collection. As an SBR, it falls under the National Firearms Act and needs approved federal paperwork before it can be transferred to you.

Features

• Semi-Automatic Action — The receiver is marked as a semi-automatic carbine, so it fires one round for each pull of the trigger.
• .45 Caliber Chambering — The receiver is stamped Caliber .45, the same pistol cartridge the wartime M1 used.
• Short Barrel Rifle Configuration — The short barrel and full shoulder stock make it an SBR, a rifle legally regulated under the NFA, and it gives the gun the compact proportions of the original.
• Walnut Stock And Furniture — The buttstock, vertical pistol grip and horizontal forend are walnut with a visible grain, in the M1 layout.
• Horizontal Forend — A straight wooden forend with a finger groove along each side replaces the vertical foregrip of earlier Thompsons, as on the M1.
• Fixed L-Style Rear Sight — A protected rear sight sits on top of the receiver, with a blade front sight at the muzzle.
• Box Magazine Feed — A straight stick magazine feeds from below the receiver, ahead of the trigger guard.
• Factory Roll Marks — The receiver carries Thompson Semi-Automatic Carbine and Auto-Ordnance Corporation, Worcester, Massachusetts, U.S.A. markings.
• Sling Swivels Front And Rear — Swivels under the forend and the buttstock take a standard rifle sling.
• Dark Metal Finish — The receiver, barrel and controls have a uniform black finish that contrasts with the brown walnut.

Build And Ownership

Auto-Ordnance builds this rifle around the M1 pattern: a squared steel-look receiver, side cocking slot, finned-free barrel and plain wooden furniture held by visible screws, with a black buttplate on the stock. Because it is a short-barreled rifle, buying one means completing the NFA transfer process and waiting for approval before you take possession.
