For those lucky enough to own a Thompson, the Thompson cleaning rod is a must-have item. And what better cleaning rod is there than an original World War II-era cleaning rod that was a part of the Lend-Lease program that sent supplies to a number of allied nations during the war.
Thompson Cleaning Rod
As noted, each Thompson cleaning rod offered by Keepshooting.com is an original cleaning rod that was reimported into the United States after being shipped overseas as part of the Lend-Lease program. These cleaning rods feature a full brass construction and measure approximately 16 1/2 inches in length, sporting a looped end for pushing and pulling the rod through the barrel. The tip of the cleaning rod is threaded to accept standard .45-caliber brushes but does not include a slotted end.
Spare parts are an important consideration when it comes to firearms. Like any machine, firearms rely on a series of parts to function properly. But no matter how well-built your firearm is proper functioning is severely impeded by the fouling that occurs from routine firing, which begs routine cleaning. For that reason, the Thompson cleaning rod is a very desirable accessory for any Thompson submachine gun.
