Bomb-proof shorts for hot weather dutyBeen wearing these Tru-Spec 24/7 shorts on and off patrol for going on three summers now and they just refuse to die. The ripstop fabric looked almost too stiff out of the bag had kind of a cardboard feel and there was a faint dye smell the first day but after a couple of machine washes on cold they broke in nicely and i've had zero fading on the khaki even after probably 40+ washes. The DWR finish still beads up light rain and coffee spills which is honestly more than i expected at this price point. I compared them side by side with my 5.11 Stryke shorts and yeah, the Strykes are a little more flexible when you're doing deep squats or climbing into a vehicle, but for the price difference i'll take the Tru-Specs every time. Cargo pockets are deep enough to actually hold gear without flapping around, and the dedicated knife pocket on the right side is a legit nice touch keeps my Kershaw from banging against everything else.
Incredibly durable ripstop held up through 3 seasons of hard use,
Fabric is stiff right out of the package needs a wash or two to break in,
