These Tru Spec shorts take the BDU cut (Battle Dress Uniform, the US military's field uniform pattern) and shorten it for warm weather. They are printed in Original Vietnam Tiger Stripe, the camouflage of dark horizontal brushstroke stripes associated with South Vietnamese and US special units during the Vietnam War. Wear them on the range, at camp, or as everyday shorts if you want a classic military look with real pocket space.

• Cotton Fabric — Cotton breathes well in heat and softens with washing.
• Ripstop Weave — A fine reinforcing grid is woven into the fabric so a small snag is less likely to spread into a long tear.
• Flapped Cargo Pocket — A large pocket on the outer thigh has a covering flap to help keep a phone, wallet or small tools in place.
• Slash Front Pockets — Angled hand pockets at the hips are easy to reach while standing or walking.
• Side Waist Adjusters — Tabs with metal sliders at the waistband let you take in the fit by an inch or so without a belt.
• Belt Loops — Wide loops around the waist accept a standard trouser belt or a duty belt.
• Button Waist Closure — A single button secures the waistband in the traditional BDU style.

Build and Fit

Tru Spec builds these as new commercial shorts, not surplus, so you get a fresh garment in a historic pattern. The cut follows military BDU trousers, with a straight leg that ends around the knee and a roomy seat. The waist adjusters give some leeway between sizes, but choose your usual waist measurement for the best fit.
