The US Military Machete is an authentic military machete made by Ontario Knife Company. This machete design has been combat tested and battle proven over the years by soldiers in and out of combat zones. This machete is available with either a standard blade or sawback blade both being produced for the US military.
Solid, durable little beast of a blade! I love it! Only gripe is that it arrived dull as a butter knife. I plan on buying a fine tooth leather stropping and sharpening kit to hone the beast, but if you don't want to go through that, the included Ontario sharpener works fine.

High quality Machete!

What a nice surprise. When the saw blade hits a limb this thing just bites right through it. I would recommend it to a friend. It's high quality material.

Quality steel
Review byKeepshooting Customer
This thing feels like a tank. I’ve hacked down a few large trees and limbs and the tool keeps its shape and balance without showing any signs of wear. Solid chopping performance, comfortable grip, and sturdy blade. The hard edge doesn’t bend and can chop thicker pieces without bending. A beast of a machete.

Wicked beefy tool
Review byKeepshooting Customer
It took me a while to realize that this isn't a "garden" machete. The saw-back, weight, length, the very strong "lanyard" slot and leather cord in the handle are very "outdoors". I love the heft and length, even if I will never have occasion to wield it in the jungle.

Just Right For Bush Clearing
Review byKeepshooting Customer
I've only used this a couple of times but so far I'm pleased. I did buy the extra heavy finish so maybe that's the difference but this machete has cut some really big brush in my clearing work on an old abandoned road. It is a big chunk of carbon steel. As I've said I've only used it a couple of times but my initial impression is that it is well made. If I'd had a bit more experience I probably would have bought the original model that weighs 1 lb. but the longer blade length made this the best choice for the kind of work I'm doing.

Excellent for a camp-site.
Review byKeepshooting Customer
WOW! This is what a camp machete should be! Well balanced, great cutting power, great size, holds an edge, lightweight, no polishing, all at a reasonable price. In comparison, a few hundred dollars worth of camping and camp-site only-use tools...wood stove, fire poker, small spade, small hatchet...have more gadgets and more bells and whistles but do not compare to this machete for cutting brush and branches for firewood, setting up camp and dismantling it. This machete just plain does what it's made for...in the camp site...just like a flashlight, small folding saw, pump, hammer, and knife are supposed to. And yes, if one does some slight "finishing" to this machete...it can be used for small cutting jobs outside the camp-site.

great all purpose bush knife
Review byKeepshooting Customer
First the package it came in was good. Not to thick and the blade and guard were protected from shock. The Machete it self was not sharp. but the edge is ground well and should take a good edge. You could buy a knife that was ready to use but this one will only need a sharpening. A Sheath would have been nice but it comes with a molle webbing sheath and straps for a shoulder carry

Machete is perfect!
Review byKeepshooting Customer
Love it. It's like the tool to carry when you go camping or on a hike, and have to hack some shrubs. Wow it cut through the thicket so well. Can be modified easily to become an axe. A few more blows, you will notice that this little machete turns into a tool that can take down a big tree! No joke. Also if you can get your hands on the steel rationing knife(you could also call it the Ka-Bar US Army knife, same concept). They are made of a better quality, that has made for centuries! I hope I'm helping out someone, or atleast informing a bit more people about the two main US blades!

A really good utility knife, with a nice balance and well balanced blade. Great steel, even the grind is pretty good.

Excellent, sturdy and a little larger than I thought
Review byKeepshooting Customer
A good buy. Very good sturdy and it’s a bit larger than I thought. I thought it would have been 36 inches. Still works well. Worth the price and the knife and sheath is a nice bonus

Great quality for a fair price
Review byKeepshooting Customer
It came a little dull but that's not a big deal because a sharp machete is very dangerous. It also came in about a month early which is always nice. For what it is it's a fair price.

This Machete is Very Useful!
Review byKeepshooting Customer
We use it as a tool to help chop firewood, but also to break through the small limbs of overgrown trees and shrubs to allow sunlight into areas we're landscaping. It has not lost its sharpness and we still love using it!

Perfect tool.
Review byKeepshooting Customer
You won't find a more perfect single tool. I have a few things I would change about it. A nice quality strap to wear around the head, a dandy ring or paracord thong are nice to have for tool retention. If you have long hair or dreads this can pull it back and/or make you a stylish pile-o-hair in a pinch! If your cutting food or wood and something slides up under the guard a thicker veff flat edge or dual paring blades for that area of protection could be a plus. For all around a small stone or fine file to sharpen up the side and edge angles for easier usage in general could also be nice, the bevel on the 5900 has always seemed a bit too sharp to me and not well defined for me in my area of need/use. For this machete's cost this blade design and mass are ideal, and that's really saying something because I've owned alot of Ontario and other machetes, AUS 8 2425 5900 USAF, PEK8-7. The vostroy gov't leftover designs that ended up being some my favorite knives are a bit softer, but are only in competition for same purpose knives not necessarily designed to stand up to hard abuse in a day pack with all your food or camp needs in a backcountry journey through rain, snow, swamp, and the finer landscapes between! Ontario did an amazing design for mass and stiffness balance, and although it is all possible, not sure I'd go lighter as a material unless its only the stacked stainless back- maybe go softer to maintain durability, possibly try other alloys to try and make it "lighter" while also stronger. But that's all subjective to what I personally prefer, the price I think just about covers the weight, tool mass, and durability of this machete. Hope that review helped somebody, jmho. A serious machete at a serious price. I love it
Review byKeepshooting Customer
There are machetes and then there are MACHETES. This blade comes very sharp and it will cut about anything you put in its path. It will also saw wood and the heft it provides makes cutting through things easier. As for using it for camping and cutting brush and small branches and clearing snow in winter the it makes all that work much easier and quicker.

Very solid and sharp!
Review byKeepshooting Customer
This came extremely sharp, and in my first hour or so using it, I got all the blades shaving sharp. The edge came fairly sharp out of the box, and then I added my sharpening touch to it. This feels like it's going to last a lifetime, but of course that remains to be seen. It's also very durable, and it feels like a great balance of sturdiness and flexibility.

Quality product and great price
Review byKeepshooting Customer
The machete came with no issues, was sharp out of the box and the product has a good weight to it, seems to be quality. For some of the people that are commenting about the saw on the side, its there if you need it. 10/10, great value.

Great blade. You can really hack with this. It’s not razor sharp but if you know how to sharpen blades you will love this knife
Review byKeepshooting Customer
Wow. This is a big hunk of steel. This is really a nice camp knife and ax. You can really cut with this. A small improvement would be a sheath with a sharpener on it but other than that you really can do anything you want with this hunk of steel. It is well built and solid as can be. This machete feels like it will outlive you. I really like this thing and I think that if your in the outback you will too. If you want a tool you can depend on to really do the job and last your lifetime this machete would be my first recommendation. Great tool.

Nice steel
Review byKeepshooting Customer
It arrived very sharp but be careful when using a file or stones to get the edge. My other OKC machete's steel is better. The knife I had it's was about as bad as I had ever seen for an old steel, but the other I used to do all kinds of camp work was very good and very sharp. I have several Ontario knives and I think their other machete's will out cut this but it has very nice quality.

The original US issue machete.
Review byKeepshooting Customer
I’ve used a lot of “combat” style machetes and other survival machetes and never found one that did what I wanted. The spades on most other knives and machetes I’ve used just don’t dig very well. They don’t dig very well in dirt or hard ground like concrete, rocks, or wood chips. But I have also never been able to find a machete that I could use to process fire wood and kindling. Then a buddy of mine who was a platoon medic and scout team leader in the army for 10 years and 3 combat tours recommended this knife to me. It has two serrated 2 inch cutouts at the end of the spade and that made all the difference. I got my Machete Spade ready for action. 3 2 inch strips of heavy duty APA glued to both sides of each piece made it really solid. It has an almost shovel like feel when it is right in your hands. The knife blade will cut and cut good, but that machete is meant to be used like a bayonet. So just a gentle stab will do, if you want it to cut you need to press it down firmly and drive it into the soft part of the log. 1 inch thick is the thickest wood I have found and my first cut went about 2 and a half feet deep into the 1 inch piece I put in. This has a lot of uses and it also is a weapon, I used it against an attacker who got within 6 feet of me in 90 degree weather at night and cut them with it 3 times and they backed off. So just to review I use it like a saw for breaking apart branches and logs into 1-2 inch size, for breaking down larger stuff to 1 inch, cutting small branches for 3 inch fuel, using the 2 1/2 inch sharp blade edge, and to hold it together, glued strips of the old canvas they issue you when you enlist. The blade has no sheath but the handle wraps around the blade. It’s like the military gave it to you like that for good reason.

Hard-Use machete...so buy at YOUR OWN RISK
Review byKeepshooting Customer
For whatever reason...this machete does what it's designed to do. If you're going camping or survival caching, by the time you put this to work and really put it to work...this is going to need to be sharpened. Now, it's pretty easy to put an edge on this. You just need to work with the edge and don't force it to do something that it's not designed to do...you need to push your edge, not force your tool. So the bottom line... this thing works, and it will require regular maintenance and sharpening. The price is right...at $18 you get exactly what you're paying for.

Amazing Tool
Review byKeepshooting Customer
I purchased the Smith and Ward Black Thunderhead US Military Full Tuff 24" 6240 High Carbon Steel Professional Bowie Knife w/ Sheath that comes recommended. This was one hell of a purchase and a beast of a knife! I used it on a large hardwood limb and I have to tell you that I didn't expect this knife to do so well! After using a very nice and expensive electric limb saw and having the thing bend and come off after only being able to take about 1/3 of the limb off, my husband bought this bad boy and with a single strike the limb fell to the ground! This was a true all purpose heavy cutting, heavy chopping tool and it made short work of a 4 inch thick limb. It did have the usual heavy black gunk that comes on a new blade but the care instruction in the video were pretty straight forward and within 15 minutes the entire thing was shiny. You have to make sure you take care of it, and this comes straight from a non experienced "Honeydo's" man's lips. If you want to keep the heavy cutting edge you have to keep it wet! The steel that they use is no joke, its thick and very well built. We bought this tool and it has made its mark on this family. It's an amazing buy and a wonderful all purpose machine. We highly recommend you take the 5 minutes to read the other users reviews and watch the videos, as they really help explain how the blade works and makes a man take a second look at buying a knife. You won't be disappointed in the this 24" Ontario Knife Co. USA Military Camp Dularme Machete and we highly recommend it.

Good buy
Review byKeepshooting Customer
Great machete, especially for what I'm using it for (survival). The saw teeth make great wedges to start kindling, the spine holds up very well, and it has plenty of weight behind it. Only negative thing I can say is the finish is poor, but it won't bother me for my intended use. I did have a tendency to bend it when cutting through a limb with the edge as the limb tried to snap back into position, but I'm getting used to the thickness of the blade and it's working much better now.
