Military Pattern Machete

The OKC US Military Sawback Machete is a long field blade made for clearing brush, cutting vines and limbing small trees, with a row of saw teeth along the spine for work the edge cannot handle on its own. It follows the US military machete pattern: a straight blade, a broad rounded tip and a simple riveted handle. Campers, hunters, trail crews and anyone keeping a vehicle or bug-out kit stocked will find a use for it.

Features

• High Carbon Steel Blade — Carbon steel takes a keen edge and is easy to resharpen in the field, though it needs a wipe of oil to keep rust away.
• Sawback Spine — Coarse teeth run along roughly half of the spine so you can notch, score or saw through wood that would otherwise bind the edge.
• Black Blade Finish — A dark, non-reflective coating covers the steel to cut glare and add a layer of protection against moisture.
• Rounded Tip — The wide, curved tip puts weight forward for chopping and is less likely to snag than a pointed end.
• Plain Cutting Edge — A full-length straight edge handles slicing, chopping and clearing growth.
• Riveted Black Handle — Handle scales are fixed to the tang with three rivets for a secure, no-fuss grip.
• Hooked Pommel — A flared butt at the end of the handle helps stop the machete sliding out of your hand mid-swing.
• Lanyard Hole — A hole through the pommel takes a cord or wrist strap for retention or hanging the blade on a hook.

Build And Care

OKC builds this machete as a working tool: a single piece of high carbon steel, a coated blade and a plain riveted handle with nothing to rattle loose. Carbon steel rewards a little upkeep, so dry the blade after use and give it a light coat of oil before storage. A file or puck sharpener brings the edge back quickly after heavy chopping.
