Winchester Super Suppressed 9mm Ammo

Subsonic 9mm Luger

Winchester built Super Suppressed for pistols and carbines that wear a suppressor, the muzzle device that traps and slows expanding gas to cut the report. The 147 grain bullet leaves the muzzle at 990 feet per second, below the speed of sound, so it does not add a supersonic crack to the shot. It runs cleanly in unsuppressed guns too, which makes it a practical range load for anyone shooting 9mm Luger with or without a can.

Features

• 9mm Luger Chambering — Fits any firearm marked 9mm Luger, 9x19mm or 9mm Parabellum, which are all names for the same cartridge.
• 147 Grain Bullet — A grain is a unit of bullet weight, and 147 is the heavy end for 9mm, which lets the round carry energy at subsonic speed.
• Subsonic Velocity — Winchester rates it at 990 fps at the muzzle, 985 fps at 5 yards and 967 fps at 25 yards.
• Reduced Noise — Winchester states decibel levels roughly 20% lower than supersonic ammunition of the same caliber, though results vary and hearing protection is still needed.
• Full Metal Jacket Encapsulated — A copper jacket covers the bullet nose while a brass disc seals the base, so no exposed lead is left at either end.
• Less Suppressor Fouling — Enclosing the base of the lead core reduces the lead buildup that collects in barrels and inside suppressor baffles.
• Muzzle Energy — The load produces 320 ft-lbs at the muzzle and 305 ft-lbs at 25 yards.
• Brass Cases — Boxer-style brass cases feed smoothly and can be collected after shooting.
• 50 Rounds Per Box — Each box holds 50 cartridges, enough for a full range session.
• Made In USA — Loaded by Winchester, a division of Olin Corporation, in East Alton, Illinois.

Encapsulated Bullet Design

A standard FMJ bullet leaves lead exposed at its base, and the hot powder gas vaporizes some of it into the bore and the suppressor. Super Suppressed closes that gap with a brass disc over the base of the core, so the bullet is fully jacketed. The flat-nosed profile and heavy weight are aimed at target and range shooting, where Winchester markets the line for consistent accuracy.
