7.62x39mm Dry-Fire Trainers

These Carlson's snap caps are dummy rounds sized to the 7.62x39mm cartridge. They contain no powder or live primer, so you can dry-fire your rifle (drop the hammer with no live round chambered) without the firing pin striking an empty chamber. They suit shooters who practice trigger control, loading and clearing drills at home with an AK-pattern rifle, SKS or any other rifle chambered in 7.62x39mm.

Construction And Use

Carlson's builds these from aluminum with a red finish and a spring-loaded insert set into the base where the primer would sit. Chamber one and press the trigger as you normally would: the firing pin hits the insert and the action works without firing. They fit any rifle chambered in 7.62x39mm, and the red color makes it hard to mistake them for live rounds when they are mixed into a training magazine.
