This Smith & Wesson M&P Bodyguard 380 comes from the personal collection of singer-songwriter Don McLean and was offered as Lot 198 at Julien's Auctions on November 11, 2022. The Bodyguard is a compact .380 caliber semi-automatic built for concealed carry, and this one has a factory-style Crimson Trace laser in the frame. Provenance and Condition

The auction listing describes the pistol as in fine condition overall and showing little use, with a good action, a mint bore and minimal handling marks. Serial number KCY4371 appears on the frame and matches the Julien's Auctions lot card, which is still attached to the original box. The frame is stamped Smith & Wesson, Springfield, MA U.S.A., and carries the maker's warning that the pistol is capable of firing with the magazine removed.
