Dutch M82 NBC Parka

The Dutch Army M82 NBC Parka is one of the most widely fielded NBC suit jackets in the entire NATO force. This NBC threat protection jacket was adopted by virtually all European members of NATO as it was deemed to be the most effective and practical system for mass deployment to soldiers.

Using a proven protective medium that is sewn into the jacket, these parkas would not allow penetration of virtually all NBC threats in existence at the time of deployment. These jackets were deployed during the height of tensions in Europe between NATO and the Warsaw Pact (late 1980s) and soldiers standing on the front lines against a possible Soviet Invasion were issued these suit jackets. Soldiers valued these NBC jackets not only for their protective qualities, but also the over sized design which allowed them to be quickly but on and taken off.
