- Strichtarn Rain Camo — Printed in the iconic Ein Strich/Kein Strich pattern that defined East German military kit throughout the Cold War.
- Heavy Cotton Canvas Shell — Tough cotton canvas outer construction stands up to rough handling and decades of field use.
- Removable Plastic Liner — Internal plastic insert keeps contents dry and clean, making it equally useful as a laundry or gear transport bag.
- Drawstring Cinch Closure — Cord-and-grommet top closure pulls the mouth shut quickly and stays secure during transport.
- Aluminum Grommets — Period-correct metal grommets reinforce the closure points and resist tearing under load.
- Internal Weather Flap — Inside top flap adds a second layer of protection against rain, dust, and debris.
- Square-Stitched Bottom — Boxed bottom construction lets the bag stand upright when loaded and maximizes interior capacity.
- Made in East Germany (DDR) — Original Cold War-era production, not a modern reproduction.

Bought as car bag, became my go-toOrdered this thinking it'd live in my trunk with jumper cables and a blanket. Cheap surplus, who cares if it gets beat up. Ended up using it for everything. Weekend trips, range days, even as a gym bag once when my regular one broke. The canvas has softened up nicely, developed some character, still no holes or tears. The leather straps broke in after a month of use, now they're comfortable. The lack of pockets seemed like a downside at first, now I appreciate it. I use smaller pouches inside for organization, can reconfigure for each trip. The drawstring closure is faster than zippers and doesn't jam. Mine had some staining on the bottom, probably from storage. Adds character, doesn't affect function. For $20-something I've used this bag more than my $150 tactical pack.
