Austrian Issue Rucksack

This is a field rucksack issued by the Austrian Army, known in the surplus trade as an Alice pack after the US ALICE system (All-purpose Lightweight Individual Carrying Equipment). It is built to carry a soldier's daily load of clothing, rations and kit. It comes with its suspenders, the shoulder straps that carry the pack on your back. Campers, hunters, preppers and collectors of European military gear all use it as a simple top-loading pack with plenty of outside pocket space.

Features

• Genuine Austrian Army Issue — The pack was made for and issued by the Austrian armed forces, so it is original government equipment.
• OD Green Nylon Shell — The body is cut from olive drab nylon, a light synthetic fabric that sheds rain better than cotton canvas.
• Drawstring Extension Collar — A nylon throat under the lid runs on a cord through metal eyelets and cinches the main compartment shut.
• Strapped Top Flap — A large lid covers the collar, and two vertical webbing straps with buckles hold it down over a full load.
• Two Buckled Front Pockets — Each front pocket has a flap closed by a webbing strap and buckle, for kit you want to reach without opening the main bag.
• Side Pockets With Webbing — A flapped pocket sits on each side, and a webbing strap with hardware runs across the top of each one.
• Internal Webbing Strap — Inside the main compartment, a webbing strap with a buckle is stitched to the back panel.

Original Army Specification

Everything on this rucksack follows the Austrian Army's own pattern: OD green nylon, olive webbing, black buckle hardware and a cord-and-eyelet closure. The layout is simple, with one large top-loading compartment and four outside pockets, the way armies have long built general-purpose packs. For a collector or reenactor, it is the real piece of Austrian kit. For everyone else, it is a sturdy, uncomplicated rucksack with a military build behind it.
