Good pants for the trailThese East German grey wool pants are decent for hiking, honestly I almost went with a different brand from one of the big outdoor companies but figured id try these since the price was right. The wool is heavier than I expected which is nice when youre out early and the mornings are still cold. They move okay on steep sections though theyre not super stretchy or anything. Took them on a 6 mile loop last weekend and no issues at all. Packaging was simple, nothing fancy. Fit is a little loose in the waist but a belt fixes that.

Great pants for the priceThese east german pants are really well made. The wool is thick and warm. Fit is good for XL.

Quality pantsI own a few pairs of these, and I love them. The wool is substantial (I was expecting these to be lightweight for some reason). I think they would be equally great out in the woods or worn for occasions where dress pants are the order of the day. Despite being decades old, one pair still had pretty sharp creases, and another pair still had the tag on them. If you want a rugged pair of pants that looks good, I don't think you can go wrong with these, especially for the price.

Wool blend keeps you warm, and the pants have an elastic at the waist, to give you a more comfortable fit.
Button fly can take a little getting used to.
