    burn well, have a good shelf life. Can light wet conditions with lighter or stove top. Toughs the heat you need to make coffee or heat up rations.

    Great value for what it is! Esbit fire source burned cleanly, no unpleasant odors (to me anyway), and provided ample heat source for our backcountry camping trip (5 hrs/day for three days). Used it with an Esbit folding pocket stove (also great for price). Can be used as a cooking fire or fireplace/fire pit source (as we did), or for long hikes/journeys (as part of a survival pack). As an FYI, do not leave burning, or used fire sources in your tent, sleeping bag, etc. I didn't notice it at first, and it singed a small hole through my rain cover. Yikes! Be safe, keep alert, and be prepared. You never know when you'll need a fire or quick fire source. This is one item you'll be happy you brought along. Esbit fire source rocks! Great stuff! -dana
