Better quality than it appears for a fair price
Review by Keepshooting Customer
Quality appears to be good, I’ve used these as emergency water canteens, and waterproof match boxes, one was drilled for a handle for another emergency cooking tool.

Wow! Well made, great price, I am going to order another for myself. I use this to take in the Jeep for an emergency tool kit. It also makes a good to hold firestarter. (I tested that last part, it works great)

Seems to be well made. It has quite the price tag on it. The top edges need to be smoother and have holes punched. I did not get them with my set but if it had they would have come from a surplus store as these look like the original WW2 type. Not bad for cooking equipment. Wash with a mild dish soap. Good luck.. Sturdy and durable
Review by Keepshooting Customer
I love the tin itself. Solid stainless steel with thick walls. It has worked out well for what I use it for. The spoon and cup fit nicely inside and stay put, so I’m happy with that. The cover doesn’t stay put very well, which is the only reason it’s not a 5.

Works well! I added an extra lock to the inside to keep a Blowout fuel table from spilling. Would like a small compartment to hold matches.

Great Cookpot and Storage
Review by Ona I.
This actually was cooler than I had hoped. It would make a good cook pot, sturdy and easy to handle. I have not used it yet over a fire. It actually was cool as it was big enough to hold my cookstove (Firebox Nano) and all my stuff for my get home bag. So I like it a lot.

It’s a pretty good mess tin
Review by Kathreen D.
I’ve had this mess tin for almost 2 years now, and I’ve used it to cook in multiple times. It’s lightweight, fairly durable, and it has a lid. My only complaint is that I wish the lid 1). Had a handle or something to help me take it off while cooking, and 2). I wish it sealed better on the tin itself. I’ve normally used this with an emberlit fireant stove (which will fit inside of the mess tin) and over a fire on a grill, but never directly in the fire itself. It comfortably holds 2.5 cups of water, but you could probably get about 3 cups in there if you really filled it to the top. The rectangular shape also helps with pouring water out of the mess tin. At first I thought the handle felt a little flimsy, but it hasn’t broken yet, and I don’t think it will under reasonable use. Overall, I think this is a good mess tin, albeit a little pricy.

Stores in my EDC pouch to hold emergency store along with fuel tabs. Functions to cook, boil water/dry food for emergency roadside applications. Lightweight, watertight, and flip out handle.

Not impressed.
Review by Lexa D.
Using it for storage of items in my kit and as my cooking container. Very thin and cheap aluminum.. Had to bend the edges of the lid to get a tight fit and the handle flops everywhere. Not what I expect when buying an Essee product. Their knives are great but this is just okay. It will do the job but it could be a lot higher quality.

Great for Building a Survival Kit!
Review by Korey Y.
MAKES A FANTASTIC SURVIVAL KIT: The handle is nice if you need to cook with it. You will still need to wear a leather glove because the handle gets hot. It is very light weight. You can boil water in it, and it is durable enough to dig with. There is not an airtight seal on this tin because it would melt if you cook on it or make a sticky mess if you dig with it. It is an ideal size at 32 oz for a survival kit.

Cheap junk I bought for a very niche role
Review by Aaleeyah U.
Basically pure junk. I really only got it to hold a fire kit and to be used as a backup to my backup mess kit. The handle doesnt lock at all, and the lid takes a lot of manipulation to get back on.

Fire starter box...
Review by Joanie E.
Smaller than I expected, sizes in the descriptions are correct. Handle works and the tin is think enough. Bought this as a fire box that can double as a cook pot. Plenty of room for 3 types of fire starters and some fat wood.
