ESEE
School of Survival Since 1997
ESEE is a survival school that happens to make gear. Born from Randall’s Adventure & Training and years of teaching jungle survival in the Amazon, every ESEE product is built to be used for real. At Keep Shooting we carry the training side of the brand: the Churp D2 folder, the waterproof Survival and Pocket Nav cards, and the aluminum Mess Tin you can build a kit around.
About ESEE
ESEE is one of the most respected names in real-world survival gear, and the products we carry at Keep Shooting come straight from its training roots — the Churp folding knife, the waterproof Survival and Pocket Nav cards, and the aluminum Mess Tin. Find them with the rest of our knives and tools.
A Survival School That Makes Gear
ESEE grew out of Randall’s Adventure & Training, started in 1997 by Jeff Randall and Mike Perrin — two men who were fed up with the hype around “survival” gear and set out to teach and equip people for the real thing. They cut their teeth running jungle-survival courses in the Peruvian Amazon, and the name ESEE itself is an acronym from that work: “Escuela de Supervivencia, Escape and Evasion” — School of Survival. Their cutlery division began as RAT Cutlery, with early designs produced by Ontario Knife Company, before being renamed ESEE Knives. The team still spends more than a hundred days a year in the field, and the rule has never changed: they don’t teach a skill or sell a piece of gear that hasn’t been tested for real.
The Gear We Carry
The Churp is ESEE’s compact EDC folding knife — a 2.75″ satin D2 spear point on a liner lock, just 2.1 ounces, with a reversible pocket clip — offered in black carbon fiber, brown micarta, and green micarta. The card sets are pure ESEE classroom: the Survival Cards are a four-card, waterproof 30-mil reference covering Morse code, signaling, traps, fire, navigation, and escape & evasion, while the Pocket Nav Cards pack a seven-card land-navigation course with clear map overlays and a Rite in the Rain micro notebook into a shirt pocket. And the Mess Tin — 1100 aluminum with a folding handle — is the classic survival-kit foundation: cook in it, boil water in it, or pack a custom kit inside it. It slots right in with our mess kits and camp cooking gear, and the cards belong in every survival and first-aid kit.
In Good Company
ESEE keeps good company on our shelves. Jeff Randall’s field experience also shaped the HEST survival knife from DPx Gear, and ESEE’s early blades came from Ontario Knife Company — so both are natural places to keep browsing, along with hard-use blades from KA-BAR and Cold Steel. Keep the Churp’s edge sharp with a Lansky sharpener. Every ESEE order ships from Keep Shooting with fast handling and our satisfaction guarantee.
