Federal Shorty Shotshells 12 GA #8 10-Rounds 1.75-inch

Compact 12 Gauge Birdshot

Federal Shorty Shotshells are 12 gauge shells cut down to 1¾ inches, roughly two-thirds the length of a standard 2¾-inch shell. The shorter hull lets you fit more rounds into a tubular magazine and softens the push against your shoulder. This box holds ten shells loaded with #8 shot, a light birdshot suited to clay targets, steel plates and general range time with a pump or semi-auto that handles mini shells.

Features

• 12 Gauge Chambering — Sized for the most common shotgun bore in the US, so it matches the 12 gauge marking on your barrel or receiver.
• 1¾-Inch Shell Length — The hull is a full inch shorter than a standard 2¾-inch shell, which is why it is called a mini or shorty shell.
• #8 Shot — Shot sizes run backwards, so a higher number means smaller pellets, and #8 is a fine birdshot used widely for clays and targets.
• 15/16 Ounce Payload — Each shell carries 15/16 oz of lead pellets, a little under the 1 oz to 1⅛ oz found in many full-length target loads.
• 1,145 FPS Muzzle Velocity — The shot leaves the barrel at 1,145 feet per second, a moderate speed that keeps recoil manageable.
• More Rounds Per Tube — The short hull lets a tubular magazine, the tube under the barrel that feeds most pumps and semi-autos, hold more shells than it would with standard loads.
• Reduced Recoil — A smaller powder charge and lighter payload produce less kick than full-size shells, which makes long range sessions easier on newer shooters.
• 10 Shells Per Box — Each box contains ten shells in red ribbed hulls with brass-colored heads.
• Made In The USA — Federal loads these shells in the United States, as marked on the box.

Check Your Shotgun

A 1¾-inch shell is far shorter than what most shotguns are built to cycle, so confirm that yours feeds them reliably before you count on them. Shotguns designed or adapted for mini shells will get the most out of the extra magazine capacity. If you are unsure, run a few through your gun at the range and watch how they load and eject.
