Hungarian M74 Gas Mask

Hungarian Army Issue

The M74 is a gas mask issued to the Hungarian Army, supplied here as a complete set: facepiece, filter canister and shoulder bag. It suits collectors of Eastern European kit, reenactors building a period-correct loadout, and anyone who wants an original army mask for display. Because this is genuine government issue and not a reproduction, the materials, markings and hardware are the ones the Hungarian military specified.

Features

• OD Green Rubber Facepiece — The one-piece molded body is olive drab (OD green, the standard military olive) and covers the face from forehead to chin.
• Twin Eye Lenses — Two large, rounded-triangle lenses sit in raised rubber surrounds to give a wide forward view.
• Molded Size Mark — A raised "II" on the forehead identifies the facepiece size.
• Front Valve Port — A black housing with a perforated cover sits at the mouth position.
• Threaded Filter Port — A threaded socket low on the facepiece takes the screw-in filter canister.
• Adjustable Head Harness — Rubber straps with buckles at the temples and cheeks let you draw the mask snug against the face.
• Filter Canister Included — The OD green metal canister has a ribbed top and a threaded neck closed by a screw cap.
• Coated Fabric Carry Bag — An OD green bag with a pointed flap, wire clasp closure and tan cotton webbing shoulder strap holds the mask and filter.

What Comes In The Set

You get the M74 facepiece, one filter canister and the issue carry bag, the same three pieces that went out together to Hungarian soldiers. The rubber body, metal canister and coated bag all share the army's OD green, while the webbing strap is a contrasting tan. For a collection or a reenactment impression, having the matching bag and canister alongside the mask is what makes the set read as a complete original issue.
