Description
Terni Arsenal Bore Brushes
These are Italian Army barrel brushes made for the BM59 rifle, Italy's development of the M1 Garand, and fitted to the issue multi-tool used to clean it. A bore brush scrubs fouling and copper deposits out of the rifling, the spiral grooves that spin the bullet, before you follow with patches. Garand and BM59 owners who want the correct Italian spare, and collectors filling out an issue cleaning kit, will both find a use for them.
Features
- Ten Brushes Per Pack — The label states a quantity of 10, and each pack holds ten brushes bundled together.
- Bronze-Colored Bristles — Copper-toned bristles are twisted into a steel wire core, the standard construction for scrubbing a rifle bore.
- Cross-Drilled Fitting — A dark metal collar with a cross hole at one end is how the brush mounts to the issue cleaning tool.
- Rounded Tip — A smooth, rounded cap on the leading end keeps the twisted wire from scraping the bore as the brush enters.
- Multi-Tool Pattern — The label reads "Scovoletti per attrezzo multiplo," Italian for brushes for the multi-tool, so they match the rifle's combination cleaning tool.
- BM59 And Tipo 2 Marked — The packet names the "Fal. BM/59 e Fucile tipo 2," the rifles these brushes were issued to support.
- Terni Arsenal Contract — Each pack is labelled from the Fabbrica d'Armi Esercito in Terni, the Italian Army's arms factory, under maker Ditta F. Cuter.
- NATO Stock Number — Cat. 1005-15-020-3742 is a NATO stock number, the alliance's shared parts catalogue code, with the 15 identifying Italy.
- Original Kraft Wrapper — The brushes come in their issue brown paper wrapper with a printed label carrying drawing, lot and contract numbers.
Italian Army Issue
These brushes were procured for the Italian Army through the Terni arsenal, and the label records the drawing number (Dis. 03-033-J-04-1) along with handwritten lot and contract entries. Because the packaging is the original military issue, it carries the same paperwork trail as the rifles it served. For a BM59 or Italian-contract Garand owner, that makes these the matching spare rather than a generic aftermarket brush.
