Molon Labe Morale Patch

Molon Labe Patch

This Rothco morale patch carries the phrase ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ in Greek capitals. It translates roughly as "come and take them," the reply traditionally attributed to King Leonidas of Sparta when the Persians demanded his men lay down their arms at Thermopylae. A morale patch is an unofficial patch worn to show a unit's humor, belief or attitude. This one is subdued in tan and brown, so it sits quietly on a pack, plate carrier, range bag or cap instead of standing out.

Features

• Embroidered Greek Lettering — The words ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ are stitched in raised brown thread, so the text has texture and depth instead of being printed flat.
• Tan Twill Base — The background is a diagonal-weave twill fabric that is visible between the letters and gives the patch a uniform-style look.
• Merrowed Edge — An olive-gold overlock stitch wraps the outer edge, binding the fabric so the border does not fray.
• Inner Stitched Frame — A brown running stitch outlines the lettering panel just inside the edge for a clean, framed finish.
• 1 x 4 Inch Size — The patch measures about 1 inch tall by 4 inches wide (2.5 x 10 cm), close to the shape of a name tape.
• Subdued Earth Tones — Tan, brown and olive-gold keep it low-contrast, so it suits coyote, khaki and other earth-colored gear.
• Rothco Manufacture — Made by Rothco, a long-running supplier of military-style clothing, insignia and accessories.

Size and Construction

At 1 x 4 inches, the patch fits narrow spaces such as name-tape areas, pack lids, hat sides and the top row of a plate carrier panel. All of the detail is embroidered onto the twill base, and the merrowed border keeps the edge tidy through handling and wear. Its long, narrow shape also pairs well with a flag or unit patch placed beside it.
