This is Smith & Wesson's own OEM magazine for the full-size M&P40, meaning it comes from the company that builds the pistol and not from an aftermarket maker. It holds ten rounds of .40 S&W, so M&P40 owners who need or prefer a lower-capacity magazine can run one without giving up factory fit and feeding. It works as a spare for the range bag, a backup for a carry or duty setup, or a replacement for a worn original.
