Streamlight Inc. is an American-owned and operated manufacturer that specializes in handheld and weapon-mounted lights, each of which is powered by various rechargeable and disposable batteries. For years, the company has been dedicated to translating hands-on, real-world experience into new ideas and innovative products that find use in a wide range of markets, including law enforcement, firefighting, outdoor sports and even civilian use. Recognized as a global leader in the industry, their products are distributed in over 60 countries worldwide. The company even developed the first million candela hand light for NASA in the early 1970s. But their dedication to research and development is only part of the story. Streamlight cites their success as a direct relation to their ability to satisfy customers. As such, the company strives to meet the needs of their customers, whether through targeted sales or the utilization of customer feedback to improve the line.
The Streamlight TLR-3 tactical light is a compact, rail-mounted light designed to be used as an illumination aid for low-light shooting with a range of the world's most popular pistols. This innovative light utilizes a C4® LED that delivers a peak beam intensity of up to 5,000 candelas and 110 lumens. It is powered by a single 3V CR2 lithium battery, and boasts up to 1 1/2 hours of continuous use. With a range and brightness comparable to a xenon bulb, the C4® LED is said to be two to three times brighter than high-flux LEDs. Lighting is also aided by a unique parabolic reflector, which produces a concentrated beam for optimal peripheral illumination, giving you a complete view of your immediate surroundings. The light is manipulated by ambidextrous controls that provide for both momentary and steady on or off.
These electronics are housed within an ergonomic case that measures 2.71 inches in length, 1.18 inches in width and 1.51 inches in height. It is constructed from a tough, impact-resistant polymer and includes a face cap that is constructed from 6000 series machined aircraft aluminum with an anodized finish. It may also interest you to know that the TLR-3 is waterproof to one meter for up to 30 minutes and carries an operational temperature range between -40 degrees Fahrenheit to 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
As noted, the Streamlight TLR-3 tactical light is designed for use with a range of the world's most popular pistols. This is achieved through the inclusion of six interchangeable mounting keys that make this light compatible with:
- Beretta 92 Series/Px4 Storm
- Kel-Tec PF-9
- Kimber TLE/RL II
- Glock
- Smith & Wesson M&P Series/99 Series
- Springfield 1911/XD Series
- Many more…
You may also be pleased to hear that all Streamline products, including the Streamline TLR-3 tactical light, are backed by the company's limited lifetime warranty. Streamline pledges to repair, replace or refund the purchase price, at their discretion, any product that fails as a result of a manufacturer's defect for the life of the product. However, restrictions do apply to batteries, chargers and electronics. For more information on the limited lifetime warranty, visit the company website.

Illumination: It is 100% able to illuminate anything within eyesight in your home. We have a 3200 square foot home with some pretty long sight lines, some exceeding 60', and this thing lights up everything in our home. You do NOT need a 500 lumen light in your house, I promise.
Durability: Well, as I've said, I originally bought it in 2014, and it is still going strong. It has also done a fairish amount of touring with me on my motorcycle. Nothing like a V-twin 103CI paintshaker to give your electronics a work out. It's still kicking after tens of thousands of miles rattling away in my saddlebags. It has also survived plenty of range trips without missing a beat. I expected nothing less from Streamlight, and was not disappointed.
I recently picked up some Sig Foxtrot lights on sale somewhere else, and my old TLR-3 run circles around them functionality-wise. The 2 light modes are easy to actuate on the TLR-3, not so much on the other big name brand.
I'm selling the 2 Sig lights and grabbing another pair of these, I think they're an absolute steal for when things go bump in the night piece.
