MSS Compression Sack

This is the large compression stuff sack issued with the US Army's ACU-era Modular Sleep System (MSS), the layered sleeping bag and bivy cover set soldiers carried in the field. A sleeping bag takes up most of a pack if you just stuff it in. This sack squeezes it down to about one cubic foot so the rest of your kit has room. Soldiers, backpackers and campers use it for the same reason: to pack a bulky sleep system small and keep it together.

Features

• Six-Strap Compression — Four vertical straps and two horizontal straps cinch down evenly, so the load compresses into a tight, stable bundle instead of bulging at one end.
• Compresses To One Cubic Foot — Cranked down fully, the sack reduces its contents to roughly one cubic foot of pack space.
• Large Capacity — Uncompressed, it measures about 11.5 inches (29 cm) across the base and 28 inches (71 cm) tall, enough to hold the MSS sleeping bags and bivy cover together.
• Drawstring Top Closure — An internal nylon draw cord with a barrel lock, a spring-loaded cord lock that holds the cord at any tension, closes the mouth before you compress.
• Water-Resistant Nylon — The tough nylon shell resists moisture and abrasion when it rides in a ruck or on a pack frame.
• Quick-Release Buckles — Side-release buckles on the straps let you open the sack and pull out your bag without unthreading webbing.
• Foliage Green Finish — The fabric and webbing are foliage green, the muted gray-green the Army used for ACU-era field equipment.
• Lightweight Build — The empty sack weighs about 12 ounces (340 g), so it adds little to a pack you already carry.
