The German Army Thermal Base Layer Pants will keep you warm and comfortable, just like they were designed to do for soldiers serving in the German Army. These heavyweight cotton long johns have wide elastic in the waistband and cuffs to give you a comfortable tailored fit. The use of this level of elastic in the waistband will also ensure you can continue to wear these base layer pants even if your weight fluctuates up or down over the next few years.

First off, these are very soft and very comfortable. They're also rather warm. In my experience so far they work better than thermal underwear, long johns that you can typically get pretty much anywhere, but they are not as warm as my Army issued polypro's I got at basic. The polypro's would make my legs sweat if I was not in a cold environment, and if I was exerting any energy, usually I would be covered in sweat by the time I took them off. That being said, these are IMO a lot more comfortable to wear, and as a base layer for camp, or sleeping in, for the price (4 bucks.. come on) they absolutely cannot be beat. I bought 2 pairs for an upcoming winter camping trip, and if they work as well as I think they will, I will most definitely buy 3 more just so I have some before they disappear. That's usually the trick for this site, if you like something, buy some spares because once you wear the stuff out, it most likely will be hard to find a replacement.
Mine were used but in near perfect shape. Pants are to the small size, usually wear a lg size 4 (1st order) and then reordered ex lg size 5 and was same quality and good fit. Good elastic in the waist and cuffs, makes for a good warm fit, perfect for cold weather activities.
I ordered a large and an extra large. The extra large appears new, which was noticeably lighter (faded) and had seen some use. They are made of a relatively stable material with a fleecy interior. These will work perfectly as tight 'sweats' for working around the house in winter or even lounging about. They will make good thermals too, in the traditional sense of the term. It will probably be a bit like roulette regarding the amount of wear any particular pair one receives will have, but for the money, they are a pretty good deal even with some (wear).
