The Ontario Knife Company RAT IA Assisted is the spring-assisted version of OKC's legendary RAT 1 folder, built around a 3.5-inch AUS-8 stainless drop point blade with a black coating and textured tan G-10 handle scales. OKC's patent-pending Tactical Assisted Opening (T.A.O.) system, paired with ambidextrous thumb studs, flicks the blade open fast, while a stout liner lock holds it solid through hard cutting tasks. Better Than ExpectedPicked up the tan RAT IA after handling my buddy's manual RAT 1 for months. The assisted opening is definitely snappier than I expected, honestly gives my Kershaw Blur a run for its money on deployment speed. The AUS-8 steel is softer sure, but it takes a wicked edge and touches up easy on a ceramic rod. Tan G-10 has nice texture without being abrasive, and the liner lock seats solid every time. For the price point though? This is alot of knife for the money.
