Description
British DPM Radio Carrier
This is a British Army rucksack built to carry a field radio set on the operator's back. It is a compact, upright pack with a clamshell-style opening, so a radio and its accessories can go in and come out without being dragged through a narrow top opening. Signallers carried it in service, and it now suits collectors, reenactors and anyone who wants a rugged, low-profile daypack with real military provenance.
Features
- DPM Camouflage — The body is printed in Disruptive Pattern Material, the British woodland scheme of greens, browns, tan and black.
- Cordura Nylon Body — Cordura is a heavy woven nylon chosen for its resistance to abrasion and scuffing in the field.
- Perimeter Zip Access — Heavy zips run down both sides and across the base, letting the front panel open wide for loading bulky equipment.
- Central Front Zip — A second vertical zip down the middle of the front panel gives quick access without opening the whole pack.
- Twin Lower Pockets — Two pockets sit at the base of the front panel for antennas, handsets, batteries or other small kit.
- Quick-Release Buckles — Side-release buckles, the kind you squeeze at the sides to open, secure the straps across the lower front.
- Adjustable Shoulder Straps — Webbing shoulder straps adjust at the top and bottom through ladder-lock buckles to fit the pack close to the back.
- Buckled Waist Strap — A webbing strap across the base buckles around the waist to stop the load swaying when you move.
- Press-Stud Zip Tabs — The metal zip pulls at the top are held down by webbing tabs with snap fasteners so they stay closed and quiet.
Issued Specification
This is original British Army issue, catalogued under NATO Stock Number 5820-99-869-2113, the reference code the military uses to identify and supply each item. It is made from Cordura in DPM with olive drab webbing, binding and zips, and olive drab green is the standard trim color on British kit of the DPM era. For a reenactor or collector it is the correct issued item, and for everyday use it is a sturdy pack built to military requirements rather than a commercial maker's idea of them.

Heavy-duty but needs some TLCGot this for my Clansman setup, and it’s exactly what I expected real British Army issue, built like a tank. The DPM Cordura is still stiff, and the internal straps are perfect for securing a radio. Mine came with some dirt and a few scuffs, but nothing a quick wipe-down couldn’t fix. The waist belt is a nice touch, though the padding is minimal, so it’s not the most comfortable for long hikes. If you’re looking for an authentic radio carrier, this is it just don’t expect it to be pristine at this price.
Genuine UK MoD issue, built for Clansman/Bowman radios
Heavy-duty construction with labeled internal strapsMinimal padding on the waist belt
Arrived dirty (but expected for surplus) -
Awesome rucksack, super tough and comfortableI bought this to use as a rucking backpack because I figured if its designed to carry heavy military radio equipment it can definitely handle a couple 30 pound ruck plates. I was absolutely right. The padded shoulder straps are surprisingly comfortable even under load and the waist strap with the big buckle keeps everything locked tight to your body so nothing shifts around while youre walking. Shipping was really fast, ordered it Thursday and had it by Monday which was awesome because my ruck club meets every Tuesday. The exterior bottom pouch is great for throwing in my water bottle and snacks.
Built to carry heavy radio equipment so it handles weighted rucking with zero issues
