Description
Osprey SA80 Magazine Pouch
This is a British Army ammunition pouch from the Osprey body armour system, built to carry SA80 rifle magazines on the front of a vest or plate carrier. It is printed in Desert DPM camouflage, and a covered top keeps magazines in place and out of the dirt. It suits British kit collectors, reenactors building an Osprey-era loadout, and shooters who want a sturdy issued mag pouch for a MOLLE rig.
Features
- Sized For SA80 Magazines — The body is cut for the 30-round 5.56mm magazines used in the British SA80 rifle, which follow the NATO STANAG pattern that AR-15 magazines also use.
- Desert DPM Camouflage — The fabric carries Disruptive Pattern Material in its desert colorway, the sand-and-brown British pattern used with Osprey armour in arid theatres.
- Covered Flap Top — A full flap closes over the mouth of the pouch to hold magazines in and keep sand and grit out.
- Quick-Release Pull Tab — A webbing tab with a black plastic clip secures the flap, and one pull frees it so you can reach a magazine quickly.
- PALS Webbing On The Front — Two rows of stitched webbing loops across the face, called PALS, let you stack a smaller pouch or accessory on the pouch itself.
- MOLLE Straps With Press Studs — Two long straps on the back weave through the webbing loops on a vest or belt and lock down with snap fasteners, a mounting method known as MOLLE.
- Heavy Nylon Construction — The pouch is made from 1000 denier nylon, a thick, abrasion-resistant fabric weight common on military load-carrying gear.
- Original Issue Label — A sewn-in tag on the back reads POUCH SA80mm AMMUNITION with NSN 8415-99-461-4940, and it has blank Name and No. lines for the soldier's details.
British Army Issue
The pouch was made to British Ministry of Defence contract for the Osprey system and carries the NATO Stock Number (NSN), the catalogue code militaries use to identify each issued item. That makes it the item British troops actually carried, not a commercial lookalike. The MOLLE straps fit any carrier or belt with standard 1 inch (25mm) PALS webbing, so the pouch works on Osprey covers and most modern rigs.
