Colt M7 Bayonet

The M7 is the bayonet the US Army adopted in 1964 for the M16 rifle, and it still fits the M16 and M4 family today. This one was made by Colt in Hartford, Connecticut, and comes in the issue M8A1 scabbard with its wire belt hook. Collectors use it to complete a Vietnam-era rifle display, reenactors carry it as correct kit, and AR owners fit it to a rifle with a standard bayonet lug.

Features

• 6 3/4-Inch Spear-Point Blade — The carbon steel blade tapers evenly to a centered point, with a sharpened false edge along the top near the tip.
• Colt Hartford Markings — The blade is stamped with the Colt logo, COLT'S 62316 and HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A., which identifies the maker directly on the steel.
• Parkerized Finish — The steel parts carry a dark grey phosphate coating, a military treatment that resists corrosion and cuts glare.
• Checkered Polymer Grips — Black grip scales with a raised diamond pattern give a firm hold and are fixed to the tang with two screws.
• Muzzle Ring Crossguard — The ring on the crossguard slides over the rifle's flash hider while the pommel locks to the bayonet lug, the small stud under the barrel that holds a bayonet in place.
• Push-Button Locking Catch — A spring-loaded catch in the pommel snaps onto M16 and M4 bayonet lugs and releases with a press.
• M8A1 Scabbard — The olive drab hard plastic body has a steel throat marked USM8A1 and a webbing hanger with a snap strap that secures the grip.
• Wire Belt Hook — The steel double-wire hook clips into the eyelets of a US pistol belt or load-bearing equipment.
• Leg Tie-Down Cord — An olive drab cord threads through the tip of the scabbard so you can tie it around your thigh and stop it swinging.

Issue Specification

The M7 was built in the United States to military specification. It shares its blade profile with the M4 bayonet of the M1 carbine but adds a muzzle ring and catch sized for the M16. Colt was the rifle's maker, so a Colt-marked M7 is the natural partner for a Colt M16 or a Vietnam-era build. The M8A1 scabbard is the pattern the Army issued with it, and the two arrive together as a matched set.
