Description
US M7 Pattern Bayonet
This is Waffentechnik's version of the US M7 bayonet, the pattern the US military adopted for the M16 rifle. The blade is marked Borkott & Eschhorn, Solingen, Germany. It has a muzzle ring in the crossguard and a latching pommel, so it mounts like the original on a rifle with a bayonet lug. It also works as a fixed-blade field knife. It suits collectors filling out an M16-era loadout and reenactors who want an M7 pattern that is new rather than worn.
Features
- Spear-Point Blade — The blade tapers to a centered point, with a bevel along the upper spine near the tip, following the M7 profile.
- Black Blade Finish — A dark, non-reflective coating covers the full blade, so it won't flash in the field.
- Solingen Maker Markings — The ricasso, the flat section just ahead of the guard, carries the Waffentechnik, Borkott & Eschhorn and Solingen Germany stamp.
- Muzzle Ring Crossguard — An open ring in the guard slides over the rifle's muzzle, and the solid lower quillon protects the hand when the bayonet is used as a knife.
- Latching Pommel — A spring catch in the pommel locks onto a rifle's bayonet lug, the small stud under the barrel that holds a bayonet in place.
- Checkered Black Grip — The handle has a deep diamond checkering pattern for a secure hold with wet or gloved hands.
- OD Green Hard Scabbard — The rigid olive drab sheath has a black throat with a retention catch to keep the blade seated.
- Wire Hook Belt Hanger — A nylon webbing frog ends in double wire hooks that clip into the eyelets on a pistol belt, the classic US military carry method, with a snap strap around the handle.
- Leg Tie Cord — An olive drab cord at the scabbard tip ties around the thigh to stop the sheath swinging as you move.
Sheath And Carry
The scabbard follows the US pattern: a hard olive drab body, a black throat, and a nylon frog with wire hooks for a web belt or pistol belt. Mounting on a rifle requires a bayonet lug and a muzzle that fits the ring, as on M16-pattern rifles. Many civilian AR-15s have neither, so check your rifle before you count on fixing it.
