Czech M85 Field Jacket

The Czech M85 Field Jacket is a genuine military-issue surplus coat from the Czech Army, cut in the classic 1985-pattern field jacket silhouette and finished in olive drab. Built from a rugged polyester-cotton twill, it carries six pockets, button-tab cuffs, shoulder epaulets, and the unmistakable Czech crossed-swords buttons running down the full button front. The OD shell layers easily over a fleece or sweater and works just as well as a stand-alone shoulder season jacket. A solid pick for hunters, range shooters, outdoorsmen, and collectors who want authentic Eastern Bloc field kit.

Wore this on a weekend hike and the big pockets held all my gear without any issues. The material feels tough like real surplus stuff and kept the wind out nice. One button on the front is a little loose though. Does what its supposed to for sure.

This makes a good outer layer and has several well positioned pockets. It is quite well made, and is an excellent value for the money. While it is identifiable as military, it is not overly military looking and is suitable for a general use outdoors jacket. The one I received appeared unissued. The only thing else that needs mentioning is that the size "large" is really more like a medium.

I bought two and wear them as hiking/woods shirts. They're a bit thicker, so better for cooler weather. My only complaints are the lower pockets are on the back of the shirt, it's a bit short for me (I'm about 6'), and the material is somewhat uncomfortable. You may want to look for another option if you have sensitive skin or just wear it when it's cool enough for a long sleeved undershirt. All in all a decent buy, though.
