This makes a good outer layer and has several well positioned pockets. It is quite well made, and is an excellent value for the money. While it is identifiable as military, it is not overly military looking and is suitable for a general use outdoors jacket. The one I received appeared unissued. The only thing else that needs mentioning is that the size "large" is really more like a medium.

I bought two and wear them as hiking/woods shirts. They're a bit thicker, so better for cooler weather. My only complaints are the lower pockets are on the back of the shirt, it's a bit short for me (I'm about 6'), and the material is somewhat uncomfortable. You may want to look for another option if you have sensitive skin or just wear it when it's cool enough for a long sleeved undershirt. All in all a decent buy, though.

Years ago I bought one of these at a local surplus store and it quickly became one of my favorite 'shirts' in cooler weather. Beautiful olive drab. Quality! Looks sharp and pockets galore! Launder with all my other clothes and hang it up when the dryer quits and no wrinkles. So glad I found this here! Heck of a by!

First and foremost...my opinion on the sizing of this jacket is that it is not a size large. It is more of a men's medium in my opinion...somewhere between a M and an L.. I'm 5'10" and 210. I was "fat guy in a little coat" with this. could not move or button it up. For the price I figured I'd take a shot based on another user review. No worries as I gave it to a special lady and she loves it! So if you are a smaller man or a woman you need to order this. It is beautiful. Mine came unissued and perfect. Canvas/cotton is thick and supple. It is higher quality than the swiss field jacket. I am so very disappointed that this jacket does not fit. I wish I could get my hands on a true XL. It has a military look to it of course, but you could roll with this as an overshirt with jeans and not look like a crazy prepper or something. You could wear this casually or hunting...whatever. The color and fabric is second to none...for the price it's a steal of a deal. Please let me know how I can get my hands on one that fits! Awesome field jacket! Best I have seen.
