Swiss Army M83 Jacket

The M83 is the Swiss Army's field jacket, printed in Alpenflage, the dense red, brown, green and black camouflage pattern Switzerland used across its uniforms. It is a lightweight outer layer with a zip front and plenty of pocket space. Collectors, reenactors and surplus wearers pick it up because the pattern is unlike anything else in military issue and this is the real Swiss garment.

Features

• Alpenflage Camouflage — The Swiss Alpine pattern mixes rust red, tan, green and dark grey shapes with small pale flecks across the whole jacket.
• Full-Length Front Zipper — A single zipper closes the jacket from hem to collar, so it goes on and off quickly over a shirt or sweater.
• Two Flapped Chest Pockets — Large patch pockets on each side of the chest close under flaps secured by two metal snaps apiece.
• Upper Sleeve Pocket — A smaller flapped pocket on the left sleeve holds a pen, notebook or small item where you can reach it.
• Zip-Vented Elastic Cuffs — Each cuff has elastic gathering and a short zipper vent, so you can open the sleeve wide or snug it at the wrist.

Swiss Issue Specification

The M83 designation marks this as the Swiss Army's 1983-model field jacket, and it carries the original military fittings: stippled metal snaps on the pockets, green buttons on the shoulder straps and sleeve pocket, and YKK zippers at the front and cuffs. The fabric has a visible twill weave, a diagonal rib that holds up well to abrasion. Because it is issued Swiss kit rather than a commercial copy, the print, cut and hardware are exactly as the army specified them.
