Swiss M83 Field Jacket – Featuring the Alpenflage Camouflage Pattern
Swiss M83 Field Jacket
Each Swiss M83 field jacket is covered with the unique alpenflage camouflage pattern. Alpenflage is the name that collectors typically use to refer to the Swiss TAZ 83 camouflage pattern – a six-color pattern similar to German Leibermuster camouflage. This pattern features a tan background that is speckled with white flecks and light green overtones that are joined by swaths of green, red, brown and black.
As noted, each Swiss M83 field jacket offered by Keepshooting.com is an authentic Swiss military surplus field jacket. These field jackets were originally designed for and used by members of the Swiss armed forces, which consists of the land forces, the air force, a naval patrol and a system for intelligence gathering. More specifically, these field jackets were designed for use with the mountain infantry brigades of the Swiss land forces.
These field jackets are not far from the end of their service lives – their service lives are yet to begin. Whether you are looking for a tough outdoor work jacket or a lightweight jacket for everyday wear, the Swiss M83 field jacket is sure to please.
Constructed from a cotton/polyester blend (50/50), the Swiss M83 field jacket is a lightweight jacket that is suitable for layering or use on a moderately chilly day. The jacket includes a full-length zipper in addition to a number of other features designed to keep the elements out, including elastic cuffs and a semi-zippered sleeve. There are also a total of three pockets on the jacket: two snap-flap chest pockets, each of which measures approximately nine inches by six inches, and one shoulder pocket on the left sleeve that measures approximately 5 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches. Other features include reinforced elbows, shoulder epaulets and a spare button for said epaulets.
I gotta say, it's an excellent shirt at an excellent price, most other places want at least double for what this shirt goes for here. The Medium M48 fits swell at 5'5 and there is plenty of room. The pockets are a very nice addition too.
Nice lightweight jacket

This is now one of my favorite light jackets for regular wear. Very comfortable and has good sized pockets. The very distinctive Alpenflage pattern looks great and actually works well for its original purpose in fall and winter.
I like this pattern, stands out when compared to other camo. Great fit and great price. I bought 2 (as always) and keep one in my truck "just in case." I've dealt with other online merchants and KS can't be beat, great deals, great products, great service.
Extremely cheap good looking jacket. Fits me perfectly as a US medium.
Layering for the Swiss M70 Jacket
Review byFoy D
Jacket is excellent for layering with the Swiss M70 jacket. The jacket arrived clean, in new condition, durable fabric, well made, zipper sleeves and with fasting shipping by Keep Shooting. I will shop again.
Wow Looks Brand New!
This jacket looks stunning! I especially love the blend of colors. I'm gonna wear it out when the weather cools down for some hiking trips!
This jacket is light, inexpensive, but well built. Great camo pattern and fits well. A class act!
Exactly* as pictured
This jacket is a fine light weight jacket. Not to be used as a serious warmth keeper, but it will do well when the air is slightly chilly. This worn with an undershirt should do fine for 60-70F degrees. The tough outer material is great for keeping brush from irritating your skin. The ONLY problem I have found with mine was that one of the elastic wrist cuffs had apparently been worm out, as it had no more tension left in the band on one arm. Overall very pleased with a great light jacket with a cool camo pattern.
Great light jacket.
Typical Swiss-quality. Mine looks unissued. You could consider this almost like an overshirt. Not super heavy, but perfect for summer evenings in western Montana. Easy to pack almost anywhere.
Awesome field jacket! Great color quality!
Awesome light weight jacket. I also ordered the M-70. The material differs on the M-83 in that it is a 50/50 cotton/poly blend whereas my M-70 seems to be 100% cotton. Awesome either way. My jacket came in brand new condition. I don't think this thing was ever issued. It was perfect. The only thing these field jackets need are handwarming/slash pockets. The only pockets are on the chest and upper sleeve. This jacket is a no brainer for the price!
Great field jacket!

L size is a perfect fit (5'10", 185 lbs). Quality you can expect from the Swiss. Excellent like new condition. Tested it out in the woods over the weekend. Comfortable to keep on all day and night long.
