147-Grain 9mm Range Load

Federal American Eagle 9mm Luger 147gr FMJ is practice ammunition for shooters who put a lot of rounds downrange. The heavy 147-grain bullet leaves the muzzle at about 1,000 feet per second, below the speed of sound, which gives it a softer push than lighter 9mm loads. It suits range sessions, target work and drills in any pistol or carbine chambered for 9mm Luger.

Case, Primer And Velocity

Every round uses a brass case with a Boxer primer, so spent cases are worth keeping if you reload. The 147-grain bullet is the heaviest common weight in 9mm, and at 1,000 feet per second this load runs slower than the 115-grain and 124-grain options many shooters start with. Because it is an FMJ target load, it is meant for practice and training, not defensive carry.
