These blankets came from several German contract mills over many production runs, so the woven lettering, marking color and stitch thread differ from one to the next. A typical label reads "Wolldecke" (wool blanket) followed by the mill name, contract codes and a NATO stock number, which ties each blanket to its government supply record. Markings are not chosen to order. Each one is genuine German issue rather than a commercial camping blanket made in an army color.
