Mayday 2-Inch Signal Mirror

Pocket Signal Mirror

The Mayday 2-Inch Signal Mirror from BCB International is a mini heliograph: a mirror you use to flash sunlight at an aircraft, boat or search party when you need to be seen from a distance. BCB rates its reflection at up to 10 miles and says it is approved for marine and military use. At 2 x 2 inches and 0.35 oz, it fits in a survival tin, first aid kit or chest pocket and stays there until you need it.

Features

• Up To 10-Mile Signal Range — BCB rates the highly reflective face to throw a visible flash up to 10 miles in direct sunlight.
• Central Sighting Window — A small aiming hole set in a reflective mesh window at the center lets you sight through the mirror and put the flash on your target.
• One-Handed Operation — The mirror is designed to be held and aimed with one hand, leaving the other free to steady yourself or hold a radio.
• Marine And Military Approved — BCB states the mirror is approved for marine and military use.
• 2 x 2 Inch Format — The square face measures 2 x 2 inches (5 x 5 cm), small enough for compact kits and pocket carry.
• 0.35 oz Carry Weight — At 10 grams, it adds next to nothing to a pack or survival tin.
• Lanyard Included — A white cord threads through a hole in one corner so you can hang the mirror around your neck or tie it to your kit.
• Rounded Corners — Radiused edges keep the mirror from snagging on pocket linings or poking through a pouch.

Size And Build

BCB International is a Cardiff-based maker of survival and military equipment, and it describes this mirror as lightweight and robust. It comes on a hanging card with the lanyard attached, ready to drop into an existing kit. The 2-inch size gives up some reflective area compared with a full-size signal mirror, so it suits buyers who want signaling capability in the smallest, lightest form available.
