Steel Signal Whistle

The Rothco Scout Guide Whistle is a small metal whistle for signaling: calling a group together, getting attention on the trail, or calling for help when you can't be seen. It is made from cold-rolled steel with a silver-plated finish and is about 2.5 inches long, so it fits on a keyring or lanyard. Hikers, scout leaders and people building survival kits carry it as a basic piece of signaling gear.

• Split Ring Attachment — A metal ring through the domed end cap clips onto a lanyard, keychain, zipper pull or pack strap.

• Cut Sound Window — An open slot in the side of the tube splits the air stream to create the whistle's tone.

Build and Carry

The whistle has a simple tubular design: a rounded mouthpiece at one end, a domed cap with the attachment ring at the other, and the sound window cut between them. Rothco, a civilian maker of tactical and outdoor gear, builds it in all-metal construction rather than plastic. It is imported and sold under Rothco model number 10364.
