Reliable light weight budget EDC
Review by Keepshooting Customer
Pros: Good EDC if you're going to be on foot a lot all day. The pocket clip is strong, and it won't come out if I don't pull it, which is something I always look for. Very light, sturdy and well built, good blade shape for daily tasks, came fairly sharp out of the box, easy to clean. The small size and easy weight make it comfortable to wear all day and good for reaching in the front pocket. Very reliable. If you're planning on breaking it out often this is the right size for you to have ready to go. Cons: The only con is really aesthetic. It's plain and looks plain, but if you're looking for an EDC to keep around that's not flashy, you'll be ok with that because the build quality will be worth it. But it's worth mentioning because it's not something you'll think of buying a knife for, so if that's your primary reason for buying it, I wouldn't go for this one. If you can see yourself carrying this every day I think it's worth it. Conclusion: This is a lightweight EDC with great build quality and practical size.

Great little EDC pocket knife
Review by Keepshooting Customer
I purchased this to replace my now-broken old EDC pocket knife, an unidentified blade with 2" as a closed length, as that one was indispensable for years and I am sad to see it go, and had been eyeing the RAT II for awhile now. As far as comparing it to my old one, while I am still getting used to the slightly longer length, the grip has an excellent "girth" and while smaller than my last, my old knife was bigger, so I can still wrap my thumb around the handle just fine. Blade sharpness? Absolutely fine. The last pocket knife I bought from Amazon's mass of suppliers, and it arrived so far less than sharp as compared to what I would've expected for a production model - the 12 HRC would probably be an accurate assessment, had I been able to measure. However, as a man with zero knowledge of the metalworking and polishing trades, I'm happy with a decent but very basic edge and it didn't take much time at all to recondition it to a good 8 or 9 - that would probably take an amateur an hour or two and cost an expert more like a day. It's sharp. I just have some unrealistic expectations about how a new, $10 pocket knife can possibly be as sharp as my $2 pocket razor is out of the box. And the flipper? Works great. Smooth. And this one even locks - it doesn't have an ambi and auto, or it would be 5 stars hands down. However, this is one of the strong suits for this pocket knife, that it locks and unlocks easily, and I appreciate the mechanism a great deal. All around? Very happy. Worth every penny.

Fantastic EDC
Review by Keepshooting Customer
Absolutely love this knife, as I have my two other edc's in this series. The clip point style has the great utility for daily use while also having that aggressive blade shape to take care of heavy duty work if need be. I do think this model, if anything I think this model should be about $5 cheaper than the model 1. Overall it's an excellent purchase, as long as you understand what it is, as well as what it isn't, it can't be the blade on a bench hook or other applications where sturdiness is an over riding quality, this knife isn't that it's an EDC for people who are mindful of their budget and don't want to drop $100 on their EDC, that's it. Otherwise it's a great piece of quality that will get better over time, it's had better and better.

It came sharp
Review by Keepshooting Customer
So for the people who say this knife comes dull I’m guessing they don’t know how to sharpen knives. If you do then I don’t see why you would give this knife such a low rating. I love this knife. I don’t use it everyday. Just when I need it. But if you’re buying this knife you should know how to take care of a knife.

Ontario Model 2 Small frame - Light, sharp, well made
Review by Keepshooting Customer
This is a nice knife, great light, small, well made. Solid frame and the pivot screw doesn't loosen up like the cheap zombie knives out there. Well worth it. I did put some thumb tacks at various locations to prevent the pocket clip from sliding down to the bottom of the handle.

Great Knife

I love this knife! It's very sharp and easy to open one-handed. The size makes it easy to carry on my belt without being too noticeable or getting in the way when sitting down. I like the black color as well.

Good knife
Review by Keepshooting Customer
I've had this knife for over two years now and it has been my EDC since day one. It holds up well to daily use as a pocket knife and is easy to sharpen. The only issue I have had is the locking mechanism can be difficult to engage when you are in a hurry.

Great EDC
Review by Keepshooting Customer
I bought this to replace my old Kershaw Tanto Blade. It’s a little bigger than the TB but still fits well in my hand and pocket. The blade came razor sharp out of the box. The only thing that I don’t like about it is the clip. I wish they would have put on a more traditional clip instead of the clip that it has now. Other than that, it’s a great EDC knife.

This is my second one of these I've bought and I like it just as much as the first one. The pocket clip is great and easy to install.

Great knife
Review by Keepshooting Customer
This is my go to EDC knife. It's lightweight and has a great feel in your hand. The only downside I can think of is that it's not very sharp out of the box. But you don't need to spend too much time sharpening it because it's made well enough that you won't have to do it often.

Higher quality than you'd expect.

For those of you who don't know the Ontario R.A.T. lineup of knives we're all designed with the idea of utilitarian survival hard use in mind. Don't let the affordable price of this knife fool you into thinking it is a cheap imitation of something else. Unless you are a collector or officionato of knives and other edged weapons this will probably be one of the sharpest knife you'll ever own. This knife can easily contend with other folders that are 2 and sometimes 3 times the cost, If you're looking for something cheap and efficient this is definitely the way to go.

Fair knife given the price
Review by Autumm R.
The knife arrived with the blade off center though not touching. So, I am deducting a point for a lack of quality control. I was able to largely recenter the blade. This process would likely be needed if one was to disassemble the knife for cleaning - a Torx 6 and 10 are necessary. The blade was evenly ground and reasonably sharp from the factory. AUS8 is has held up and is easy to maintain. Both opening and closing can be easily one-handed. Given the price, the RAT II is an okay pocket knife.

Great Buy
Review by Ilana B.
I absolutely loved this knife. I unfortunately accidentally forgot to take it out of my purse and it got taken by security at the airport. BUT for the 4 months I had it, it was such a great thing to carry. I felt safe walking my dog at night knowing I had my sharp knife. I am going to re-buy because it was that great.

Perfect pocket knife.
Review by Colette Q.
I really like the form factor, fit and finish, design, and boy is this a sharp knife! Fits in your pocket easily and is large enough for 95% of what a knife should do. I removed the pocket clip and it works much better without it. I would prefer a sheath if one was available that you could attach to a belt. Well worth the money, get a good sharpener to keep it in good condition, I bought a Mueller which is top rated. Cuts through paper right out of the box. Great for a gift also! Need a #7 torx bit to remove the clip, or to reposition it.

Close to perfect
Review by Chyanna V.
This is everything I wanted in a pocket knife with none of the gimmicks. At first, the lock did not want to snap into place upon opening, but it smoothed out after a few weeks of casual use. All in all, this is a great replacement for the various Gerber knives I've had. The blade is sturdy. I've had no problems maintaining a good working edge.

Got this knife after reading lots of reviews on YouTube. This thing seemed too good to be true, especially at the price. It's worth every penny. Zero play lockup, super smooth deployment, knife rests dead center, comfortable in the hand. Shaves paper out of the box. A well deserved reputation among knife enthusiasts that lives up to all the praise. Don't hesitate.
