    I have several magazines for my Ruger Scout, and the plastic ones are definitely my favorites. The steel 10 round magazine that came with the rifle needed significant work to smooth it out. However, all of the plastic ones have operated flawlessly from the start. Perhaps there will be a cost in durability, but I haven't used these long enough to comment on that. They seem quite sturdy. The 3 round magazine is nice for smoothing out the profile for hunting situations, basically converting the scout to the capacity and shape of a fixed-magazine rifle.
