SABRE Red Home Defense Pepper Gel with Wall Mount

Pepper Gel for the Home

The SABRE Red Home Defense Pepper Gel is a 13-ounce canister built to stay in one place in the house and be ready when you reach for it. A wire wall mount holds it upright by a door, in a closet or next to the bed, and a pistol-grip handle lets you aim and fire it like a fire extinguisher. The gel formula is meant for indoor use: it travels as a heavy stream rather than a fine mist, so less of it hangs in the air of a room.

Features

• Pepper Gel Formula — The label describes it as safe to use indoors, with reduced wind blowback and less effect on bystanders than an atomized spray.
• Oleoresin Capsicum Active Ingredient — OC, the concentrated extract of hot peppers, is a severe irritant to the eyes, skin and respiratory system.
• Heavy Gel Stream — The directions give a range of roughly 30 feet (9 m), enough to put distance between you and a threat in most rooms and hallways.
• Pistol-Grip Handle — A molded black grip with a long yellow trigger section lets you hold the canister one-handed and aim it naturally.
• Safety Pin With Pull Ring — A pin and split ring lock the trigger until you pull it free, which helps prevent accidental discharge.
• Tamper Seal — A plastic zip tie through the handle shows at a glance whether the unit has been handled or fired.
• Wire Wall Mount — The included steel bracket screws to a wall and holds the canister so you can lift it out quickly.
• 13 oz Canister — Net contents of 13.0 ounces give you multiple short bursts from a single unit.
• Made In The USA — The label marks model FHP-01 as made in the U.S.A.

Using and Storing It

To fire, pull the safety pin away from the handle, point toward the attacker's face and press the yellow section of the handle in half-second to one-second bursts, moving side to side. The label warns against storing the canister in a vehicle or anywhere it could get hotter than 120°F, so a wall inside the house suits it best. SABRE also recommends a test spray to confirm it works, and the contents are under pressure, so keep it out of reach of children.
