The Smith and Wesson 1900 Leg Irons are ankle restraints for transporting or holding a subject while still allowing a short, controlled stride. Each cuff is larger than a standard handcuff so it closes around the ankle, and the two are joined by a longer chain than a wrist cuff uses. Build And Operation

The 1900 uses the same basic layout as Smith and Wesson handcuffs: a hinged single strand that ratchets into a fixed double strand, with a riveted lock housing on top.
