LC-1 Y-Harness
A loaded pistol belt drags down on your hips and slides out of place. The LC-1 suspenders fix that by moving the weight onto your shoulders. This is the US Army's Y-shaped harness from the ALICE system (All-purpose Lightweight Individual Carrying Equipment), the load-carrying gear US troops used for decades. Collectors, reenactors and anyone running a period-correct web belt setup still carry it today.
Features
- Y-Back Design — Two front straps meet in a single strap down the back, which spreads the load across both shoulders and stays out of the way of a pack.
- Padded Shoulder Straps — Wide padded sections sit on the shoulders and ease pressure when the belt carries canteens and ammunition pouches.
- Four Hook Attachments — Black metal hooks on the two front straps and the split back strap clip into the eyelets of an issue pistol belt.
- Slide Buckle Adjustment — Buckles on each front strap let you lengthen or shorten the harness to suit your torso and the height of the belt.
- Shoulder Rings — A metal ring on each shoulder pad gives you a place to hang small items such as a first-aid pouch or a flashlight.
- OD Green Webbing — Olive drab green, the standard US military colour of the era, matches other ALICE and LC-1 web gear.
- Cotton and Polyester Build — Woven webbing and nylon-type padded covers are made to handle field loads and repeated adjustment.
- Genuine USGI Issue — USGI means US Government Issue, so this harness was made for the Army and not for the commercial market.
Original Army Spec
The LC-1 suspenders were built to work with the LC-1 and LC-2 individual equipment belts. The front hooks clip to the belt at the front and the split rear strap hooks in behind your back. They also pair with ALICE-pattern pouches, canteen covers and entrenching tool carriers. If you want an authentic belt rig, original issue harness is worth having over a commercial copy because of its fit, its markings and its provenance.

Real deal USGI, not Rothco junkGot these to rebuild the LBE I had at Bragg in the late 80s. NSN 8465-00-001-6471 stamped right on the yoke, brass snap hooks which tells me these are actual LC-1 not LC-2 (the LC-2 redesignation in '91 switched to steel hooks, same suspenders otherwise). Padding is still thick, OD webbing hasn't faded much, and the stitching at the Y junction is tight no fraying. I ran Rothco's "GI type" H-style LC-1s years ago and the webbing was noticeably thinner and narrower than issue, felt like I was wearing dollar store suspenders. These are the real 1000 denier nylon, made in USA, with the correct D-rings up front for your compass pouch or whatever else you wanna hang off em. Snapped right onto my pistol belt and buttpack with zero drama. If you're building a proper ALICE rig and not cutting corners, get the genuine article.
Genuine USGI with correct NSN and brass hardware
1000D nylon construction still solid after decades
Padding distributes load way better than commercial repros -
Unissued 1985, metal hooks, perfectBuilding a 1980s USGI loadout and needed proper LC-1 suspenders. These showed up dated 1985, unissued condition, still had the paper tags. Metal hooks, not the plastic ones that break. The webbing is stiff but not dry-rotted, clearly stored well. Shoulder pads are intact, not crumbling like some 40-year-old nylon does. The H-harness design is simple, effective, distributes weight way better than my modern minimalist suspenders for heavy ALICE loads. Fitted them to my LC-2 belt with M1956 ammo pouches, canteen, and butt pack. Carried 30 pounds for a 5-mile hike, no shoulder fatigue, no slipping. The metal hooks are loud when they clank, but they don't pop off like plastic.
For $20 it's genuine USGI, not reproduction. Buying a backup set before these disappear.

Comfortable all day wear.I love how the suspenders hold my belt steady without sagging, and the adjustable pads stay in place no matter how much I move. They feel like a genuine piece of ALICE equipment.

Railroad BillShipping was fast. The product was in excellent shape. Used, but not like other military surplus I’ve got from other stores in the past. I would highly recommend the suspenders and this store.
