MOLLE II Sustainment Pouch

The sustainment pouch is the largest general-purpose pouch in the US Army's MOLLE II system, sized to carry rations, water, spare clothing or a day's worth of supplies outside the main bag. It straps to the side of a MOLLE II rucksack or onto any vest, belt or pack with PALS webbing. This one is the ACU-pattern version, issued to the Army during the Universal Camouflage Pattern years, and it suits soldiers, reenactors, collectors and campers who want more outside storage on a pack.

Features

• Cordura Nylon Body — The pouch is cut from Cordura, a dense, abrasion-resistant nylon that the military uses for load-bearing gear.
• ACU Digital Camouflage — The pixelated UCP (Universal Camouflage Pattern) in gray, tan and green matches Army Combat Uniform-era kit.
• Four Snap-Closure MOLLE Straps — Straps on the back weave through PALS webbing, the horizontal rows of nylon loops on military packs and vests, and lock down with snaps.
• Approximately 7-Liter Capacity — At roughly 12 x 9 x 4 inches (30 x 22 x 11 cm), it holds bulky items that will not fit in a magazine or utility pouch.
• Buckled Top Strap — A single webbing strap with a side-release buckle runs over the lid and down the front to hold the top closed and cinch the load.
• Drawstring With Cord Lock — An inner drawstring collar closes off the opening under the lid and holds its tension with a plastic cord lock.
• Side D-Rings — A D-ring on each side gives you a place to clip on a shoulder strap or lash the pouch to other gear.
• Clear ID Window — A clear-faced pocket on the back takes a name card or contents label.
• Drain Grommet — A metal eyelet in the base lets water run out instead of pooling inside.
• Stamped US Marking — A large "US" is printed on the front panel, the standard government marking for issued equipment.

The sewn-in label identifies the pouch as MOLLE II Modular Lightweight Load-Carrying Equipment, Sustainment Pouch, NSN 8465-01-524-7226, made by Specialty Defense under contract SP0100-04-D-4183. The NSN (National Stock Number) is the government's own catalogue number for the item, so it confirms you are getting the Army's pouch and not a commercial lookalike. The label also carries the Army's care instructions: hand wash with mild soap, rinse, and dry in shade away from direct heat.
