550 Paracord 100ft - Rose Pink - Rothco

A high quality item, for very little cost! The list of uses is virtually endless, from camping to rappelling to emergency and beyond!

This paracord is pretty much what you'd expect from the label, as long as it's the proper diameter (as advertised). It's durable, the knots stay tight, and it's bright green. It also came on a dispenser, which is useful if you have to cut lengths. The label says the fibers are woven in an X pattern, which they are, with very little slack or spacing between fibers, so it is very strong, but also not the most comfortable to wear, especially when the weather is warm. I don't think this product would be very comfortable to use for tie-downs on the roof of a vehicle, or a suspension strap, unless it's really loose and the item is tied down at both ends.

What I'm looking for is what I can expect from 550 Paracord. If I'm making 15 or more knots in a piece, can I be confident the string will hold together? If I make one large line of knots, can I depend that it will be solid? Any hints or info would be appreciated. Thanks

Many different Paracord variants are available through many different vendors. This review focuses on 550lb Cord, Type III Paracord by Rothco. This paracord seems decent, it has a high percentage of core filament, a very good braid, low twist outer cover and official/proper specifications. Rothco's shade numbers for many popular paracord shades are available at their web site, www.rothco.com It would be helpful if Amazon could link to those specifications as well. (The specs are available by cutting into the paracord, the spec tag will have information, or a phone call to the 800 # would help.) I would not hesitate to use this for a purpose. My issue is more around clarity and in a few instances where the shade numbers may be a bit off from standardization, especially with shades like Coyote Brown. My understanding is this shade of brown is intended to resemble both US issue and UK OD brown camo patterns. However I believe that is not the case, and may actually have another brown shade that is close to an OD brown but more brownish brown than greenish brown. I am unsure if my review colors on this image accurately reflect official Rothco specifications or the color the paracord is as the package it came in was taped closed and no color swatch is provided. But as you can see from other customer images the actual brown may be slightly different than what is represented. That's all I have to say, but this is more for any future paracord buyers to be aware of the possible variation in this shade of brown. Otherwise I have no real issue with the product.
