DPX HEST Fixed Blade

The DPX HEST is a compact fixed blade knife built to be carried every day and used hard. HEST stands for Hostile Environment Survival Tool, and the design packs a few extra jobs into one small piece of steel. It suits hikers, hunters, campers and anyone who wants a short, stout knife on the belt or in a pack instead of a folder.

Features

• 1095 Carbon Steel Blade — The blade is marked 1095, a high-carbon steel known for taking a keen edge and being easy to resharpen in the field.
• Tan Coated Finish — A desert tan coating covers the blade and tang, cutting glare and helping protect the carbon steel from rust.
• Drop Point Profile — The spine curves down to meet the point, which gives a strong tip and plenty of belly for slicing.
• Full Tang Construction — The steel runs the full length of the handle and is exposed at the butt, so the knife has no weak joint between blade and grip.
• Bottle Opener Notch — A cutout in the spine just ahead of the handle works as a bottle opener.
• Hooked Pommel — The exposed butt ends in a hooked point that can be used for prying or scraping without risking the edge.
• Textured Olive Handle Scales — Olive green scales with a woven texture are fixed to the tang with two fasteners and give a secure grip.
• Lanyard Holes — Two holes through the exposed tang at the butt accept a lanyard or paracord loop.
• Molded Black Sheath — The included hard sheath holds the knife by friction and has a row of eyelets around its edge for lashing or mounting.

Build And Carry

DPX Gear built the HEST as a full tang knife with bolted handle scales, so there is no hidden joint to work loose. The 1095 steel and tan coating keep it simple to maintain: wipe it dry and keep a light coat of oil on any exposed edge. The black sheath has eyelets around its perimeter, so you can set it up for belt carry, strap it to a pack or lash it to other gear.
