Classic knife comes shaving sharp
Review byDanita W.
I love this knife. KA-BAR is a great company and they really produced a great knife here. This is a very practical utility tool. It’s very much like the 1219C2 fighting/utility knife. I like the fact that the cross guard is shortened on top so you can get your thumb out on the spine of the blade for fine control.

I love this knife.
Review byJojo C.
Best stacked leather handle knife I’ve found out there for anywhere near the price. Good steel (1095) with a shaving sharp edge. Perfect size, blade shape, and flat grind. Might not work for big hands but ok for medium/average size. Decent sheath. I recommend it.

Perfect fixed blade utility knife
Review byCarah V.
This is much smaller than the traditional K-Bar 7” USMC fighting knife. The blade is 5” and the handle is a good inch shorter than the big model. An adult can easily get a firm grip on it. Fits easily in a bag with the sheath. I can completely see how the Navy picked this as a utility knife in the day for dealing w heavy ropes. It can handle heavy / constant use that folks just don’t do w a knife anymore. It’s an elegant, rugged deign of a different era.

Solid, tough construction with a full tang and the same thickness blade and the full size model. Leather handle is beautiful. I treated it and the sheath w Sno Seal. Maintain both and they will last for generations. I don’t get critics of the sheath. Nicest leather sheath I’ve ever owned. Much nicer than my uncle’s WW2 model, which is flimsy by comparison.

It will handle rain and wet as the design has done for decades. It’s not a dive knife. I may break down and get a Kraton handle version for canoe camping.

Mine was not very sharp, sort of rough grind. Not a big deal, I’ll fix that. Glad K-Bar makes this model still. This is a better tool than the big model as it attracts less attention. Fixed blades are fairly polarizing. It’s not a massive survival knife. It’s an awesome tool for camping, outdoor activities, and emergency use. Large handle that an adult can get a firm grip on. It’s a reasonable tool you can carry in a bag / vehicle every day.

Love it.

The knife is a nice addition for a KaBar enthusiast. Perfect out of the box. Beautiful knife. Note: if you have large hands the knife's leather handle will feel short and slick in your grip.

This is an excellent knife.
Review byZacharia K.
I purchased this to use when hunting or camping. I consider it to be excellent for that use. That the Navy issued this to their men during WW II is now almost beside the point to me. I have given these as gifts to family members who liked them. They do make a version with synthetic grip material. With reasonable care the leather grip material is a lot more durable than a lot of people expect it to be.

Well made and tough
Review byVashion K.
First, I vastly prefer the Parkerized original K-bars over the current black paint that belongs on a cheap China import. If you scrape away the paint, it takes a few hours, you get down to a blade that has a multitude of fine parallel grind lines running from the edge to the back of the blade. So far the pommel has held up to occasional bashing and the blade holds an edge and is tough enough as one expect from properly heat treated 1095. The sheath works but is nothing to write home about. The stacked leather grip seems to be durable. I've had the stack shift on some other fancier knives including a Bark River where the holes in the leather were larger than the tang. So far that has not happened with the K-bar. If you can live with the black paint, it is a great knife. If you can't, scrape it off with another knife.

I love K-Bar knifes, I bought a K-bar for my father back in the seventies ,and I have that knife today ,still in great shape. I got my new MK-1 today in the mail,
when I opened the box
,I was floored , by what I was looking at. The quality was great
,and you could shave the hair on your arm with it ,right out of the box. The craftsmanship was great. What a great knife ,I have so many
and this has to be my favorite.

Quality Control
Review byBrindi A.
I received my knife today and I was a bit disappointed. After opening the packaging, which was in no way damaged, I discovered that the butt of the knife has a chunk of paint missing. I might have been willing to overlook this, but as a knife collector, this particular knife will never be used. I have smaller, EDC knives that I use, but this is a knife I will only display. Somewhere along the line quality control failed and here I am with a product that shows the result of that breakdown.

Beautiful knife
Review byChandler B.
This knife is a true beauty. Please keep in mind, it is old-school, with a rat tail tang, so I wouldn't recommend it as a chopper, nor using it for batoning; it is originally a WWII military fighting knife, not a modern bushcraft tool. I think however that it will do most other camp chores. Mine came ultra sharp out of the box. Make sure you treat the stacked leather handle as well as the leather sheath with mink oil or something like it to preserve against water and from drying out and peeling. The color on the handle is breathtaking when oiled. Also: because it is shorter, it feels less threatening than the full-sized Ka-Bar Marine Utility knife, and you'll feel less self-conscious carrying it.

Extremely good outdoor knife
Review byTitiana Q.
This knife arrived on time and shaving sharp. This knife balances on 2nd finger and my hand locks into the handle for a very secure feeling grip in just about any position. The knife is big enough while being small and light enough to Cary and use daily. The supplied sheath is made of leather, secure and simple but serves the purpose. This is a knife that will serve a hunter/fisherman/outdoorsman well. I Realy like this knife and would recommend it to anyone wanting a general purpose utility knife.
